boogie nights is ptas casino. good movie for sure but overall it lacks substance.

Boogie Nights has not aged well. It's a slightly above average Goodfellas ripoff. None of the subplots are at all interesting and Marky Mark can't act for shit. The camerawork is stylish and all but there's no substance. The whole film should've been about the Burt Reynolds character.

personally i liked the master best and twbb more than boogie nights.

yeah i always hate when filmmakers hate on their own movies, it always feels like cucking out and giving in to what audiences were saying. at least pta was saying what he actually thought and not saying audiences were right, but i know he loves altman and the casual pace of his films.

but considering its 3 hours, every time ive seen it time fucking flies by, more than any other 3 hour movie. how a 3hr drama flies by i have no idea, but i worship that damn movie.
