Tharks were so fuckin cool.

>Tron Legacy
>John Carter
>The Lone Ranger
I guess Disney is finished taking risks since they bought capeshit and Star Wars
>>83531175
Lone Ranger I could do without. But post 2012 Disney will never fail to disappoint me. They have Marvel and Star Wars, we'll never get anything good and original.
>proto pulp source material
>water it down and lower the rating
>Carter is babyfaced cali homo
>Dejah is suddenly a milf instead of a red hot super babe
And this is just for starters. This need the Heavy Metal treatment or just dont do it at all.

They all performed poorly.
Can you blame them?

>a milf instead of a red hot super babe
It's weird that you say this like the two are mutually exclusive
The scene interspersing him burying his wife and fighting a horde of tharks is pure quinoa

John Carter is self sabotaging. Read Gods of Hollywood.
>>83531414
don't forget that it is visually bland

It's hardly a bad film tho. Certainly not worse than the average well recieved blockbuster.
Look at this symbol. This is a great symbol, marketing wise. It's interesting, eye-catching, you can put it at any scale you want and it's legible. This symbol should have been everywhere, on billboard,s on cereal boxes, on stickers pasted to lampposts, you could revive Pogs, You don't see it until the end of the movie, at which point you've already watched the movie, so the branding potential is redundant. This movie has great visuals, it was at a time when Taylor Kitsch was that up-and-comer from Friday Night Lights instead of that guy who was in all those bad movies, a retarded diversity-hire marketing intern could have successfully marketed this movie. But nobody did.

I forgot my image, like a damn fool

Its a collossal missed opportunity though.
I mean imagine art like this coming to life in a movie. It would be genre-defining stuff. Something we hadnt since Star Wars.

>Female Tharks
>Literally no tits
Anyway. So HBO series when?
>>83532065
To be fair, they based the green martians far more on this than the originals. Frank schoonovers greens were burly, horse eyed, hog tusked ape-men with wierd ear flaps

>there will never EVER be another Sword and Planet movie, tv series, or video game
just FUCK my shit up holy god. all i want is some medieval style shit but with aliens (you have to dumb down the futurism shit to justify them playing with swords and rocks but whatever, that's easy)
why doesn't anyone else want this?
