If you do enjoy zombie flicks get in here and share your favorites and lets discuss them.

28 Days Later is my favorite.
>>
I love that part in Day when the doc is putting on the headphones, and for just a moment Bub acts like a normal zombie, and then that little light bulb goes off in his head and he turns friendly again

it's just the range of emotions on his face that get me every time
>>
>>83530319
Bub was supposed to be used to find some sort of cure but the doctor treated him more like a mentally challenged friend that he was trying to help learn. Amazing chemistry.

Best Zombie Movies:

Dawn of the Dead (1978) - Slow zombies

Return of the Living Dead - Fast zombies

The Dead (Ford Brothers) - Creepy black zombies

Zombi 2 - Italian zombies

Honorable mention: Day of the Dead, Maggie

Not zombies: 28 days / weeks later. Those are plague victims and those are virus films.

Come at me bro. These facts are irrefutable.

In what universe is Blue Velvet a zombie film?
>>
>>83529473
My top three...

Return of the Living Dead (also my favorite movie of all time)
Dawn of the Dead 78
Zombie

The reason why zombie are the greatest movie monster of the modern era is that they can represent soo much. Loss of identity reducing people into mindless consumers. Romero got that with Dawn. But it also fits the idea that they have no ideology and anyone can be turned with gives them a socio-political subtext that translates into the modern fear of terrorism and that anyone can become your enemy!!!FACT!!! https://youtu.be/H1uJ714net0

Shaun was a disappointment as I expected more from the guys who made Spaced. 28 Days Later would be a modern masterpiece if they used the original ending where Jim dies in the hospital.

I have to say that Scouts guide to the Zombie Apocalypse is the best zombie comedy I've seen in a long time while Train to Busan is the best serious zombie flick of the last decade or so!!!FACT!!!

If you're asking because of The Video Dead it's because it is one of my all time favorite films let alone zombie films. Any other zombie film I try to get every release of it, so it might be the same film but a different cover/company. But with a couple I like a lot/ rare enough, I will buy every time I see it on the cheap.

Like pic related there are 4 of it's releases on Wizard (I have plenty more from other companies) but it is rare enough on Wizard where if I see the VHS for well under what's it's worth I'll take it regardless if I own it already or not.

There's something soo fucking comfy about seeing VHS tapes. Probably nostalgia for my lost/wasted youth spent trolling video stores across the city. I wish I could have been born ten years earlier, I'm a 78 baby, and saw the rise of mom and pop video shops that stocked really grubby Horror/Exploitation flicks. There was a couple of those in the early 90's but they got shut out by Shitbuster Video. So glad those cocksuckers went bankrupt!!!FACT!!!

I'm the same way. Yeah, it annoys me when people call 28DL a zombie movie. It isn't. It's a virus movie and not the same thing. The people who are infected are still alive and can be killed. They are not members of the living dead. On the other hand, you all should check out a TV zombie series called Dead Set which was written by Charlie (Black Mirror) Brooker. It's about a group of contestants on the latest series of Big Brother who realize that a zombie apocalypse started while they were in isolation. Seriously, it's fucking brilliant and it has ACTUAL zombies, that is, people who are infected, die and then return to life unlike the 28DL monsters who are just infected people!!!FACT!!!
>>
there was this stream on livestream like 8 years ago that had zombie movies non stop, ive watched hundreds of these holy shit i wish streams like that were still around but the guy got taken down
>>
>>83541111
Isn't it true that 28DL helped influence the "fast zombie" fad that movies like DotD remake ran with?
>>
>>83540993
>>83541060

II really like the NOTLD remake and thing it could have been a GREAT one if they just stuck with the original ending. I like that they updated Barbara but the structure of the original is soo perfect that the new ending just doesn't work. Otherwise I enjoy the updated FX and acting and would put it almost on par with the Blob 88 remake!!!FACT!!!
>>
>>83541076
It's a big piece of shit!!!FACT!!!
>>
>>83541037
Yep, ROTLD is one of those I have like 15 different releases of it from around the world.
>>
>slow zombies

I don't know how people can still watch this stuff. 99% of the kills are contrived as fuck. Slow zombies would be 100% unable to cause any kind of apocalypse. Even fast zombies with biting as the infection method are doubtful.
>>
>>83541148
Well, Return of the Living Dead had the first real "fast moving" zombies not to mention that it established brain eating.

There's been an argument over Fast Vs. Slow zombies and here's the way I view it; It depends on what sort of movie you're going for.

Slow moving zombies allow for you to build mood, atmosphere and suspense.

Fast moving zombies are good if you want action and I suspect that they work better in this ADD era where most people couldn't sit still to watch something like Fulchi's Zombie or the original Dawn of the Dead.

The whole argument is fucking stupid anyway!!!FACT!!!
>>
>>83541295
Actually Nightmare City had the first fast moving zombies!
>>
>>83541222
>Even fast zombies with biting as the infection method are doubtful.

Admittedly slow zombies wouldn't be able to bring about the end of the world. Shaun of the Dead was realistic in that things would be fucked up for the first 24 hours as people got ahold of what was happening but once people mobilized the problem would be contained pretty easily.

Fast moving zombies are most "realistic" because things would get out of control pretty quickly in a large populated area like New York or Tokyo. Containment wouldn't be possible at that level!!!FACT!!!
>>
>slow zombies make great howling noises, and display no signs of intelligence when in hordes
>slow zombies have improved intelligence and increased stealth (basically invisible) when solo.
slow zombie cucks need to die
>>
>>83541380
I had considered that, being that I've got it on Bluray on my shelf, but for some strange reason I don't register it as a zombie movie in my brain. Probably because they used the whole "infected with radiation" angle while they only drink blood and use weapons to kill like guns and knives. I know NOTLD had the "venus probe radiation" bit and all that but, like I said, Nightmare City just doesn't feel like a proper zombie movie to me!!!FACT!!!
>>
>>83541498
Post collection please, I'd love to see it. I really need to start buying more blurays.
>>
>>83541390
>Containment wouldn't be possible at that level

How fast does a zombie go and why would they leave the city in the first place? The plague would be contained in the one city it began in. Also, as all zombie games show, if the population has access to firearms, the zombies are done for.
>>
>>83541631
The good ol boys and mountain men would be set. Hell, the mountain men might not even know anything is wrong at all.
>>
>>83541631
>>83541675
Basically the idea is that the only reason the epidemic actually manages to fuck us over is that it targets densely populated areas. Those areas are where things like manufacturing and shipping are handled. So even those more fringe places like family farms that are mostly not dependent on the outside world slowly find themselves. The modern world has left even the small town in the feedback loop. Only the truly isolated, like hillfolk out in the Appalachians, would be unscathed.
>>
>>83541060
no way anon, it IS better. even romero admits that.
>>
>>83541846
Given they grow their own food year round and have a fresh water source.
>>
>>83541846
>Only the truly isolated, like hillfolk out in the Appalachians, would be unscathed.

Actually, anyone far enough from the city would be unscathed. How would the plague spread to other neighbouring cities if the only carrier are people on foot? It took soldiers months and years to traverse Europe and they were trained to march. Given how we live in an information age, the news of the infection would be spread instantly.
>>
>>83542108
>How would the plague spread to other neighboring cities if the only carrier are people on foot?
The virus is spread via air travel through major international terminals. Just look up how many international terminals there are in the US. From there, as the cities fall, the smaller towns find themselves with empty grocery stores and gas stations and nature takes its course
>>
>>83542108
unless its a disease of some sort and starts in a major travel hub. if it happens in atlanta we're all screwed.
>>
>>83531314
Lucio is the man. The Beyond, Zombi2 and City of the Living Dead are all fantastic zombie movies.

>>83533615
What a weirdly awesome movie RotLD 3 turned out to be.
>>
>>83536289
>Hard Rock Zombies
Now I won't be the only one on /tv/ who's seen that movie. Also Biozombie is very underappreciated.
>>
>>83542164
>the virus is spread via air travel
how?
>>
>>83542376
>>83542164
>airport

Then you don't get a critical mass of zombies to spread the plague and the disease has a long incubation time and soon anyone who was on the flight from the Ground Zero is going to be found by the CDC

Generally speaking, somebody should just man up and make the virus airborne with only a handful of people being immune.
