I hope you are referring to Inception and not Interstellar, because Interstellar was pure kino, /co/mblrtard
>>
>>83525442
only you
>>
>>83525719
No, Interstellar was a mismatched cornucopia of cheeky organ music, stale shots, expensive but uncreative CGI and lousy, squirrelly writing. Not him, by the way.
>>
Probably the only film of the summer I'm looking forward to
>>
>>83525830

>t. Man who couldnt do any better if he was given all the resources Nolan had.

Nice anon!
>>
No matter how good it is /tv/ will pretend to hate it and try to pick every scene apart, all the while worshiping at the alter of capeshit and star wars for another year. This board is fucking cancer
>>
I'm just looking forward to crashing planes
>>
>>83525830
>stale shots, expensive but uncreative CGI

wat. Interstellar used practical effects wherever possible you fucking retard
>>
already booked my ticket for it
>>
>>83525641
I agree. Inception is his last good movie

>A film that can't possibly pander to niggers or women

no wonder the fa/tv/irgins hate it already KeK
>>
>>83525913
Considering how contemporary, big budget film making is the result of the collective, networked effort of thousands of people, I think I can say that Nolan's personal contribution may deserve less credit than you give it. Still, the end product itself is drab and unfeeling science fiction, incapable of opening horizons beyond humanity and retreating to some well-oiled cultural routine to give a sense of (ontological) closure.

>>83526002
I was thinking about the water planet and the black hole mostly, I'll admit I didn't think it could be practical effects. If they are, the people behind them have my undying admiration.

>you can't criticise a movie unless you made a better one!
>>
I don't understand the hate nolan gets. His films are literally 10x more interesting than any other big budget hollywood blockbuster of the last decade, yet /tv/ eats up all the capeshit that gets spewed out and does nothing but criticise nolan
>>
>>83525747

>>
>>83526332
What's wrong with this?
>>
>>83526367
The people who criticise Nolan and the people who watch nothing but capeshit are not the same. And there are legitimate criticisms against Nolan.
>>
>>83526533
Namely, as the idea of what is "good" (and thus, "better") is always fluctuating and subject to change in a society, what you're saying is that the only people who can criticize anything are those whose social standing (by that I mean, their place in the social hierarchy, their adherence to the beliefs that are upheld by those on top of the social hierarchy, how society at large relates to these beliefs, etc) regarding "content creation" (its own definitional can of worms) is perceived to be at least on par with how contemporary society perceives, in the same category (at least), the author whose work is being critiqued.

Essentially, you've got no solid base to your complaint.

it's almost all practical effects. hell, the shots of them going into the wormhole literally gave me vertigo in the theater which isn't something I can say for any other film

You're the second person in the thread and I'm the one who wrote the post about the CGI - I'm honestly interested in knowing about this, do you have a source?

Brit actually I'd bet.
>noooo we didn't leave the french to hold off the germans while we escaped
Though to be fair, they were able to repatriate French soldiers too, but only when the British had all been evacuated

I don't watch capeshit. To say Interstellar is almost entirely practical effects is probably false. Pretty much all the scenery outside of the scenes on earth is computer generated. That alone constitutes about 50% of all the shots in the movie.
>>
>>83525442
I don't trust a hollywood WW2 movie to portray anything accurately.

Modern war movies should never be anything but rated R. I remember I popped in Spielberg's Lincoln and I wanted to turn it off when it started with a bloodless and sanitized Civil War scene.

>>
>>83526224
The water planet was filmed in the extremely shallow but far reaching waters on Iceland. Literally only the wave itself was CGI in that scene.
>>
>>83527437
...which is kinda the reason why people remember the scene as being "epic" and spectacular, instead of bravely adventurous and somberly reflective of mankind's role and space in the cosmos, I guess. Maybe we look for different stuff in science fiction.

What a great movie, goddamn. I haven't seen Insomnia or Memento, but The prestige is just a master crafted movie

>>83525442
Dunno seems like a bad idea money wise to make a movie about the British getting shit kicked.
>>
Its about a ton of soldiers getting massacred during a war and its rated PG-13. How the hell can it be any good

Will it have Nolan's signature perception trickery? Like, maybe, Dunkirk island has a day loop or whatever.

I saw Wonder Woman in IMAX yesterday and they played the extended trailer before the movie.

Those 5 minutes were better than all of Wonder Woman
>>
>PG-13 war movie

I absolutely hate the fact Harry Styles is in it. This is going to keep me from really getting immersed in the story. Everyetime I see his shitty face I'm going to think hey look it's Harry Styles from One Direction. Same with movies with Johnny Depp
>>
>>83527535
>bravely adventurous and somberly reflective of mankind's role and space in the cosmos
are you forgetting the ending, where Cooper finally gets what he wished for and reunites with Murph after discovering humanity survived and achieved off-world colonisation, only to realise he now has nothing in common with the world he once pined for so intensely and immediately abandoning it again in search of frontiersman-like adventure? Interstellar has the best of both worlds of sci-fi.

he's said he's going to be playing with the perspective of time in it as the whole event lasted only an hour for the airforce, but days for the navy and a week for the soldiers, so he's gonna be mixing together narratives on totally different timescales from one another
