I hope the new Twin Peaks end in a reality breakdown. Gordon Cole goes to meet Denise, for a debriefing, and halfway through he goes: wait a minute, you’re not Denise, you’re David Duchovny with a wig! Then he runs out into the corridor, screaming Coop! Coop! and when Coop appears and says “what’s good, Gordon” Gordon Cole realize my god, this is not Coop, this is that actor Kyle Mc-something, and then his hearing aid starts hissing, electricity going insane, so he throws it on the ground, And he drives in a panic to Twin Peaks to meet Shelly, the only girl he can hear, the girl he learned French for, maybe she’ll be able to help but upon meeting her he feels something is not quite right and he searches on his phone and he realizes she’s an actress as well and he gets up from his stool and scream-whisper, “what’s going on!” then the Double R diner disappears and Cole is in the dark, falling, landing on his back on a bed of blue roses.

Then it cuts to the box. For forty-five minutes, with a loud buzzing noise and intermittent shot of the cameras. The end.

My point was, this is a strange question to ask if you are familiar with vaporwave, since that genre of music is predicated to a large extent on slowing down preexisting pop music from the 80s and 90s.

The relation with Twin Peaks is obvious from the picture I posted. Macintosh Plus's Floral Shoppe was one of the most successful and popular albums in the vaporwave genre, and the album cover clearly was inspired by the red room from Twin Peaks. It's entirely possible that Lynch has heard vaporwave music and decided to incorporate slowed down music into his show.

Did anybody find it cringy how Lynch sort of patted himself on the back in that Denise scene? I couldn't tell if it was supposed to be cheeky or not. Denise wasn't even Lynch's creation, nor did he ever direct any episodes where David Duchovny showed up.

Given that Lynch himself wrote in a scene where he got to kiss Shelly, it's easy to view this as some sort of vain attempt at being self congratulatory over something he wasn't even originally part of.

Also, no I'm not a triggered tumblerina, I just found the dialogue of that scene peculiar, I like that the character Cole is a mix of being really progressive while also kind of a sleezy old timer. Just thinking about the intentions here with Lynch himself.

You faggots are a bunch of blind followers of Lynch who won't accept that "Twin Peaks: The Return" is a total disaster. This is the final proof that rebooting old series is a really *really* bad idea, since not even Lynch can do it right.

TPTR is not Twin Peaks: it's a bland, sad, and pathetic attempt of self-celebration in the form of an artificial continuation of an unfinished old work. So old that you, the creator, can't even remember correctly. Ironically, at a metalanguage level, the topics of this reboot perfectly reflect what reboots per se are: concretely, a doppelganger, product of a creative void. It's not Cooper who is lost here, it's David Lynch himself. Maybe this is his unconscientious talking...

I will tell you one thing, /tv/: after watching the first episode I was actually deceived for a moment, as I thought it was going to be great; maybe it was going to be more in the direction of FWWM, but I was OK with that. But then, after episode two I started to realize what was really going on here. At episode three, I started to cry and almost turned off my TV, as I finally understood what was happening here: it was the dead of one of the greatest artists of the 20th century.

In a way I think Cooper going toddler on us is a nice way to bring back the total pure innocence of the character after all of it was stolen from him when he entered that Black Lodge. I think these moments we're getting now will be a lot more heartwrenching when Cooper later comes to, and we realize he's not the same person after having spent all those years in the lodge.
