Its effects were legitimately bad and it felt like I was watching a literal b movie. Writing, effects, and all. Everything about it left a sour taste in my mouth after Aliens. I could have gotten over literally everybody dying if it were otherwise a good movie, but since it failed spectacularly at even being an entertaining film, I just can't.

That was the only thing i liked. Punished ripley is more interesting than ripley and friends. Although desu they should have just used a new lead and never talk about what happened with ripley, newt and hicks. That way resurrection would've been slightly less retarded as well.

Just re-watched it last night and you are god damn right it is.

Lately I've been so glad I watched 1, 2, 3 and 4 when I was 15 and thought "FUCK xenomorphs are cool" and was able to enjoy them because of that. I always really liked 3, and I'll admit I thought Resurrection was the most meh, but I never hated it. It was Alien, it was not Prometheus. I can read into people hating 3 because Aliens was a wild ride, but I just saw them as different movies, different adventures with Ripley and the xenos. I love that I Can still watch them and not be fucking bitter about everything like you fucking faggots

Because why bother to root for anyone if they can just be declared dead? It makes the movie you are about to watch pointless. Why get invested in anything about to happen? I guess one could argue that it adds to the bleakness and nihilism of 3 but not sure that that makes for a good movie.

they were never gonna make it as he intended it in the first place, fox is now focusing on keeping the canon straight, they had a similar operation as star wars where they wiped the old EU and took a very hands on approach on new canon materials to have them fit the movies by interacting with the writers and giving them guidelines, and alien colonial marines (as much as everyone hates that game it's still official canon sanctioned by Fox), the fire and stone / life and death comics and one of the new novels all make reference to the events of alien 3, they would have to throw out their entire canon and marketing strategy just so they could accomodate the fanfiction wishes of a mediocre director which was simply not going to happen.
