I think the military record teasing was just a red-herring but would've been more interesting had it actually panned out. he appeared to just have not have done much to treat his PTSD/none of the treatments really worked for him, which brought his mental facilities into question (proven by him going apeshit while having his authority questioned in the plane). pretty boring.
