Not really. It was written by a communist, but there's no suggestion that the actions of the townsfolk are supposed to be representative of all of America.

Rio Bravo is good but nothing special. I'd put in in the 2nd-tier Westerns with the Dollars trilogy and The Magnificent 7.

I will never ever understand the fanaticism surrounding Unforgiven. Nothing it says about the genre, myth, violence etc wasn't said with more grace and subtlety in any of the films you listed. It's like we collectively forgot that revisionist westerns had existed since the 50s, and Eastwood obnoxiously literal one gets all the praise
