One: sex sells, and the producers pushing this stuff want money. That's the simplest and primary reason.

Add to that that these are Hollywood people. These are basically hedonists and materialists, who have a grudge against Middle America and religious values, and seem to want to push as much of this hedonism on the culture as possible. It's partly coming from some inherited obligation in coastal culture to presume that this is somehow aiding progress or something (it's all kind of mindless by this point). But humans have a rascally side too, like a 'wickedness' in them (as it used to be described) where they kind of want to fuck things up. And if they've become kind of mindlessly committed to that whole legacy of meaningless liberalism and hedonism for the sake of itself, they're just going to play their meme role and push that idea, because that's what humans do, they're meme puppets.
