Qui-Gon was always in conflict with the jedi council because he did the right thing regardless of the councils stand on the matter. He knew that the Jedi were restricting themselves to actually do good. He still hasn't freed the slaves on Tatooine but only because he acknowledged that he couldn't do it on his own / with his Padawan. I guarantuee you that he would have been a better teacher to Anakin than Obi-Wan, maybe they would have even freed Anakins mom before the Muslims got her and he would certainly have sided with the Separatists and Count Dooku that stood against the restrictions that the Republic and Jedi imposed. It would have been another great plot that Lucas completely avoided aside from the conversation with Obi-Wan and Dooku in AOTC.

Though the way George introduced new details with The Clone Wars into canon it made me think about these previously inconsequential details and wonder how he maybe would have changed some other details if TCW were longer or how he would have changed the Prequels if he had gotten those ideas earlier.

For example the Confederacy just came off as some assholes that he pulled out of a hat but TCW showed in one episode that after getting concrete evidence that the Banking-Clan is owned by the CIS (even though Obi-Wan overheard the conversation where they pledged alliegance to Dooku but let's ignore that for now) and Sheev just used that as an excuse to nationalize the Banking-Clan, effectively stealing all the fucking money and he definitely did the same with the other corporations. That the war was a way to make people hate the corporations, banks and such so he could pretend to take it back for the people but in the end just used their stuff for himself or the military. This detail should have been this explicitly in ROTS because then it would also give the taxation shit of TPM a right to exist as now it was just removed and ignored and keeps being a loose end.
