You really like films about loners.
>>83445436
nice
These always make me self-conscious because I only recognize a few movies.
>>83446131
Yeah.. /r9k/ is my most frequented board as you may expect
>>83446208
What are the top 3?
>>83446264
Which don't you recognize?
>>83446343
Bottom three in the first one. I only recognize Wake in Fright in (although I guess that's There Will be Blood)
>>83446208
>>83446373
I laughed for a fucking minute, nice and subtle.
>>83446368
>bottom three in the first one
Inland Empire, The Master, There Will Be Blood
>>83446368
The first one is Drive and the bottom three are Inland Empire, The Master, and There Will Be Blood
>>83446487
>>83446459
Cheers. I know Drive though, but my post ended up jumbled.
get better taste
>>83446738
By "get better taste" do you mean "watch more obscure films so you can wave your superior taste above people's head's"?
>>83446753
Can I have the basic gestalt on the names of these films?
>>83446825
lost highway

>>83446786

>>83446208
Are the 3 coppers from Magnum Force?
>>83446912
There are 2 kinds of plebs
The people that barely try to get into cinema and accepts whatever Hollywood feeds them as the epitome of cinematic art.
And the fucking total faggots that think just because they watch blurry 20 min color tinted short films that it makes them patrician.
>>83446929
yeah
>>83446979
...except they're not shorts, good luck ever getting rid of your pleb status :^)
>>83446208

Why not just put in the movie covers instead of a random screenshot from somewhere in the middle of the movie? It's not even like it's more convenient to do it that way, it takes like 2 seconds to just google the movie and find the cover vs finding some random still
>>83448844
Because people pick shot's that they specifically like from the film, and sometimes use the shots to match up to make a certain aesthetic.
>>83448844
also, it's always part of the fun to pick really cryptic screenshots so people have to guess
>>83446373
this guy gets it
This one's a bit old, but still holds up.
>>83445436
How come that one is your favorite by Lynch?
>>83446208
I prefer Wells's and Kurtz's MacBeth to Polanski's.
>>83446373
>Friends
How come?
>M
Nice!
>>83446753
I see you often around these threads. As always, it's pretty nice, but how come you prefer LH out of all Lynch's work?
>>83447283
Is that The Invisible Man top middle?
>>83447616
Lovely list, that Sicario shot is lovely and Kurt is 10/10 fuckable material in the Thing.
>>83449858
Is that Persona bottom middle? Also, what's the name of the one in middle left? Seems familiar.
>>83447460
>not nanami
>not pastoral
Pleb
>>83451177
>Is that The Invisible Man top middle?
no
>>83451252
What's it's called then? Also, is your profile picture a doge on letterbox?
>>83451177
Well Eraserhead and Inland Empire are my favorites because of the dream like trance they put me in. It's not like I'm watching a film, more like I'm experiencing something.
>>83451288
The Face of Another
yes
>>83446373
My nigga
>>83451300
>The Face of Another
Thanks. Any other work you'd recommend from Teshigahara?
>>83451349
all of his work with Abe, including shorts
his short documentary on Hokusai is pretty cool if you're interested in the subject
i'm not familiar with any of his work past The Man Without a Map so i can't vouch for any of it, though i've been meaning to watch Antonio Gaudi for fucking ages
>>83451395
I'll check it out.
I assume you have, but if you didn't, check out Save The Green Planet! and Vengeance Is Mine, you might like 'em.
>>83451446
i've seen Vengeance is Mine, but not the other. i'll check it out, thanks for the rec
>>83445436
Essential /tryingtoohardtofitinhere/ kino
>>83451759
I feel like most people are genuine here. This isn't /mu/ after all.
>>83446738
looks good
>>83445436
watch kieslowski
>>83452300
>Akira
pleb tier, read the manga. Watch Metropolis and Jin Roh, also Mind Game and Kon's work.
>BR
It was quite fun and good overall. That scene was neat.
>GITS
Have you seen the show? It's better, but the film is a classic.
Neat list overall.
>>83452215
thanks yours too, is that institute benjamenta? have you read the book? it's really good liked it more than the film
>>83452469
>have you read the book?
Walser is probably my favorite writer, and yes Von Gunten is amazing, one of my favorite novels of all time, I think the Quay brothers' style works perfect with the tone of the book.
>>83452215
>watch kieslowski
I watched Red and hated it though..
>>83452620
i meant like A Short Film About Love/Killing
>>83452556
it's probably their best film although I liked street of crocodiles quite a bit as well (another amazing book), the only think I can really criticize it for is using such old actors to play teenagers roles but that's just a nitpick really. What other Walser should I read next?
>>83452719
his last novel, The Robber, is amazing and underrated, a good translation exists and it's easily available i think
The Walk is a favorite of mine as well
I've only seen those the two films from the Quay brothers that you mentioned but I agree.
>>83452300
Thought that was the Loveless cover for a moment
>>83453060
cool, will check them out, thanks!
The piano tuner of earthquakes was okay, I also watched a bunch of shorts but the only one I remember is SOC but you should probably check them out anyway. Oh btw one of the films in my 3x3 is from Moon's pool which I didn't care for so much but that soundtrack was so amazing, so thanks for that too.
>>83453418
yeah moons pool is a lot of fun, i also like my name is oona because it reminds me of francisca woodman
ill try to see more quay shorts, im sure there are some decent collections out there
also have you seen venom and eternity? if so, what did you think of it?
>>83452701
Okie dokie I'll give those a try
>>83453893
yeah I can see the comparison, I thought the film was okay I mean underwater shots are always pretty nice but what really amazed me was the soundtrack, I searched for the guys who made it but no luck unfortunately, so I made a track myself instead so I can listen to it again and again
Really love venom and eternity! It's been a while since I've seen it but I think it's the only film I ever saw that was deliberately insulting to the audience with the audience talking back, it was a very fun interaction. But I have yet to read the Society of the spectacle so I'm holding off on the other situationist films
>>83454252
enjoy fren
>>83445436
1 and 5 are good
>>83451228
>not eros + massacre
>not pale flower

>>83454416

pretty cool you did that anon, iirc you also did that for szurkulet, having that kind of ear must be a great gift
i liked it a lot as well, although i'm not as familiarized with the SI as i'd like
also what is mid right and bottom right in your chart? looks amazing
>>83454567
>Tarantino
>Weebshit
>Nolan

>>83454806
