Yes. Just seeing you I want to push things inside of you, slowly and deep, very, very deep.

Who can remember the first DVD they watched?

>Godzilla 98

I have a faint memory of coming home and having my parents laugh at me for trying to put it in the computer.
>>
>>83424612
Shrek, I remember watching it on the computer

i think some people jack off to this. otherwise i don't know why it would exist like this.
>>
>implying the majority of this board has ever touched one of those
>>
>>83424612
That was the first DVD I ever purchased. First to "watch" was a Halloween theming DVD at some rich kids house during a costume party.
>>
>>83424612

I think it was something shitty like Arnold's Hercules in New York we got for free in the DVD pack that came with a few titles when we bought ours.
>>
>>83424520
I'm 32.

Still have some VHS tapes in my garage. No VCR though.
>>
>>83424612
A Clockwork Orange was the first dvd I bought with my DVD player Although it was rated R 18+ so my dad bought it for me with the player. It was my money though. First thing I bought after my first few pay checks from my job at 15.
>>
>>83424703
31, All I have is Kingpin on tape and an old DVD/VCR combo
>>
>>83424818
Mine are all old things I loved as a kid like Indiana Jones, Star Wars and E.T. Got them all on DVD/Blu-Ray so really should just throw them away but can't bring myself to do it.
>>
I was born in 73 and my parents were the proud owners of this bad boy. VHS movies were expensive back then so you didn't collect them (like 100 bucks maybe). Our VCR ate Airplane II and so we had to buy the copy from the video store, so I watched Airplane II a lot, with one part garbled up where the tape was spliced.

Those buttons look similar to the shitty VCR player we had in the early 90's, and the thing easily could have been a decade old at that point. It was a "portable" version that had a smelly leather case and the dog ate the strap.
>>
>>83425080
Right. In the 80s these beasts were expensive. It wasn't until the 90s that they got so good at cranking out electronics that they were 100 bucks and everyone had them. And there were actual shops to repair them too instead of just chucking them and ordering a new one. I guess that turned out to be a shitty profession.
>>
>>83424509
wtf is that
>>
>>83425103
>portable VCR
so fucking weird. I remember there were some video cameras where you had the camera and then you lugged around a VHS recorder over your shoulder as well, but only the rich kids had them. Must have been 30 lbs.
>>
Ii found an old VCR at my parents house.then went to some hole in the wall convenience store (that use to rent moviesike 10 years ago) selling a bunch of VHS tapes for 25 cents. Got like 15 classics and about 30 movies I've never heard of. They're probably shit but gunna hunker down and get comfy for a while.
>>
>>83424509
No. I'm 18.
>>
>>83425350
There's something cool about watching movies or listening to music on the technology that people had when they came out. All that 80s stuff, no one got to see it in blu ray with punched up sound and all that. Some things like comedies actually work better that way I think. Other things like Alien or Star Trek are so much better with new tech.

33. A few months ago I decided VHS tapes take up too damn much space. I threw mine out. Was only old senpai shit like E.T., Space Jam, Free Willy, Milo & Otis...

I used to record RAW IS WAR on 6-hour tapes.

Had probably 15 VHSes full of it. Too bad I lost most of them and only have 1 remaining.

I remember when my parents bought a PlayStation 3 for $599 dollars when blue ray came out.
>>
>>83425822
CDs are more complex they just rely on computers and light which require smaller components but lots of hardware and software built up over time.

Still yea, less interesting to look at I guess.
>>
>>83425778
My dad bought our first computer because it had a dvd player that was playing the matrix on the computer on display at the store. He was so blown away at the quality he bought the computer because stand alone dvd players at the time were about the same price.

I remember a couple of times the whole family squatting around the 15" monitor watching some movie while being uncomfortable as it was just at an office style desk, no couches, etc.
>>
>>83424612
The Matrix. It was the only thing to do on the PS2 for almost a year after it came out.
>>
>>83425822
Definitely, they are much more mechanically complex, even though the techology is very simple compared to say streaming a movie on Netflix. Now with platter hard drives going the way of the dinosaur the number of actual moving parts involved in playing a movie are very few.

Im a pack rat/hoarder and went balls deep last decade or so buying big amounts of VHS's for a dime a piece at garage sales.

I recently threw 95% of them away because I just dont have the room.
Nobody is going to miss a copy of Top Gun or Speed on VHS

I only kept the seemingly more obscure movies. Like promotional ones for cars or how to videos from Sears. I have skateboard, snowboard, BMX video, music festival videos. A few anime ones, early UFC.
Still taking up more space than I would like, but they are too cool to get rid of.

There was some fun to be had while flinging the reels of tape down the street or on a tree
>>

I passed on it. Then again I passed on a Laserdisc too.

Throw that shit out. Jesus Christ you keep the cult shit on VHS.
>>
>>83426430
Yeah, I like the look of VHS and 90s movies.

It had the look of, well, film -- and some other aura to it.

I'll miss the golden days of it.
>>
>>83426151
Super Nintendo was objectively better. I had the megadrive first and loved it. Didn't get a SNES until Yoshi's Island. Went back and played a lot and in the end thought the system was easily the superior of the two.
>>
>>83426472
Of course you do. But there is something really fascinating about watching some of that other hokey and dated stuff.

Like I have a "how to build a two stall garage" VHS that was brought to you by Chevy Truck.
Its one of the most worthless how to videos I have ever seen, but its really endearing for how its just a blatant Chevrolet promotion.
>>

Super Metroid and A Link To The Past were my go to games that made the SNES the GOAT for me. Beat those games numerous times and the endings never failed to move me.

Save for Eartbound. That one was...an entirely different level.
>>
>>83426455
Hell yeah audio cassettes or VHS, there were freaking miles of tape in there. We used to string it between stop signs at intersections as a prank.
>>
>>83426803
I never played Metroid, but Link to the Past, Donkey Kong Country, and Killer Instinct were the big ones that me and all of my friends played like crazy
>>
>>83426803
Super Metroid is still one of my favourite games. Link to the Past is also awesome.

Yoshi's Island, Donkey Kong Country 1 - 3, Mario Kart, Final Fantasy 6, Mario World, F-Zero, Tetris Attack, Street Fighter 2: Hyper. So many great games.

I have 5 working LD players, 4 I got from Goodwill stores. They take up a lot of space...When I see one in the store, I plug it in, if the disc mechanism works I'll probly end up buying it.

My 30 yr old Panasonic VCR broke the other day and it would've probably lasted another 30 if I hadn't dropped it on the wood floor. Off to Goodwill....

Just a question of density I think, like you could have higher definition if you made the tape wider or made it play faster. There wasn't much of a market for it especially since old CRTs didn't look that great anyway. HD just wasn't a thing for regular folks.
