No Ed Burns, co-creator of The Wire and Generation Kill. People always assume Wire was 100% Simon and underrate his role. Treme also tanked because it was Simon alone.

I love Simon but I'm glad he brought back Pelecanos and Price; The Wire was great because it had genre/pleb appeal, the perfect balance between engaging entertainment and his social themes. Treme flopped because it lacked that aspect. Excited to see the mob aspects. But the female writers and the Gyllenhaal character worry me, you just know there are gonna be hamfisted scenes of whores getting beat up by pimps, etc.

If you read the wiki description and characters list, you can see it'll deal with many different areas surrounding the sex industry: Whores, pimps, mob (Genovese and Gambino families), fags/LGBT, a reporter investigating the porn industry, bartender, good cops and corrupt cops...

CGI looks a bit iffy in the trailer but the visual style is great. I assume it was shot on digital but it almost looks like 16mm.

I thought HBO was dead and buried. Now give Milch a new show too and TV Kino's back on the menu.
