People who criticize this scene are fucking retarded and couldn't follow basic plot threads to save their life. The captain up until this point is depicted as a man of faith who will give anyone a second chance because he believes ultimately in redemption so him following David and looking in makes total sense after he was promised nothing bad would occur and from David's point of view nothing bad did happen so he was telling the truth thus proving the captain was right but for reasons he did not realize. Ridley wasn't kidding that this was a thinking man's horror film now if only all the children would realize this and go back to It Follows so only the intellectuals can discuss this film peacefully.

The only thing I liked about A:C was the use of the Prometheus theme, which isn't even included on the soundtrack.

To be fair Crudup's character was implied to be losing his shit more than everyone else at this point in the movie, hence his almost acceptance of defeat before giving birth, the movie has lots of questionable character decisions but most of it forgiveable when. You consider it's a big dumb violent monster movie. I enjoyed it
