At this point they only reason they are remotely relevant anymore is for their political parodies, particularly debate parodies.

But thats it. They stopped being funny some time within the past decade or so.

They used to actually push the envelope and make adult jokes back when they first started.

meanwhile, during the big anniversary show, where they got Eddie Murphy to host the show as a return to SNL, it was the saddest thing you ever saw. Eddie didn't make a single joke, and looked uncomfortable being there.
