Prometheus definitely got one thing right over Covenant, and thats the landing party wearing air-tight suits and helmets when exploring a planet completely new to humanity.

Seems like the producers listened to the criticism that taking off those helmets midway was retarded.

The least i expect is a small scene where they send in a drone and it gives them the all clear. Combined with a character explaining that most of the protective gear got burned in the flash incident, to make the plot even more water tight.

The characters in Covenant were cardboard cutout cliches who do nothing but serve as fodder for David and the Aliens. You can explain motives and actions more in Prometheus compared to Covenant which projects how characters will behave a mile away.
