Been working in the NYC film industry for 3 year. Worked the last 2 seasons of SNL in the film unit. AMA.

Does your dad know you're gay?

Who's the biggest prima donna/douchebag of the cast?

So you faggots have been coming here to steal ideas for jokes since your all talentless hacks, and? Fuck off

Where did you go to school and what degree did you get?

to be honest, everyone ive encountered has been pretty great. from what i experienced bobby pretty much checked out early last year and didn't seem to be having a good time.

nicest of the cast is pete. super chill and (used to) love weed.
>>
come back when you're in LA
>>
>>83331179
Jimmy Fallon that fucking faggot
>>
>>83331200
He's in production retard, he isn't a writer. These are actually the only respectable SNL employees as they have to set everything up on the sudden whims of a people lacking an ounce of creativity
>>
>>83331212
didn't goto college. moved to nyc when i was 18 and started as a PA on terrible indie flicks, met a production coordinator for SNL through a friend, stayed in contact with her for a while, and ended up being hired the next season full time.
>>
>>83331200
>stealing jokes from /tv/

Until I see Kyle Mooney hooking his thumbs into his belt this is a bullshit claim.

Jesus Christ, not only are you a talentless hack but you're also pathetic.

1. How'd you get the job?
2. Do they deliberately write liberal propaganda, or is it a byproduct of the writing staff being liberal?
3. If a conservative happened to be really funny, would SNL object to making him/her a writer?
>>
>>83331851
its an hourly position and there isnt always work

i cleared just near $60k last year. seems okay anywhere else but not with the cost of living here. i live in bushwick with 2 shitty roommates.

1.I had a friend that let me know about the position

1. friend of a friend was the production coordinator for the film unit and they needed extra hands one day. i was available, got along well, and kept in touch. hired full time the next season.
2. writing staff is all liberals. any conservatives are quiet about it and i have no clue.
3. no idea.

aziz ansari was kind of hard to work with, but i think he was mostly just really tired and is used to bigger "hollywood" productions. the film unit works very fast and a lot of times the hosts feel rushed in they're in the skit.

are the guy that posted in those other SNL threads or was that some other guy?
how popular is /tv/ and 4chan in general in the industry? There have been others supposedly posting here but is it BS?
>>
>>83332237
this isnt me

rihanna was really hard to work with. just very demanding and always took extended breaks.
>>
If some actress has to make a costume change really fast for the next scene, do you sometimes accidentally on purpose see anything?
>>
>>83332273
wasn't me. /tv/ is actually pretty well known, especially among the lower-level production workers.

we all have to sign nda's and cant talk about shit to anyone else, so coming here is a nice way to dish some dirt without fear of being fired.

>>83332326
Yes I have Cecily has the biggest areolas i have ever seen on a human

i work in the film unit where its basically like shooting a short film. we work fast but nothing like the stage crew for the live show. so nope, havent seen any cast member tits.

WHY CAN NO ONE READ CUE CARDS PROPERLY

i know that snl is shit in 100 different ways but it always gets to me how bad the entire cast is at delivering their dialogue in an even slightly believable manner.

granted i see your point. worth noting SNL isnt the only thing i do.

i worked as a PA on Joy and also on james franco's The Deuce.

david o russel is still insane and i dont know why actors are still working with him.

franco acts like a total piece of shit to his crew.
>>
>>83332545
have someone of the cast/production crew had sex with a guest or musical guest?
>>
>>83332759
no chance in the production crew to have a shot like that.

in terms of cast, i can only guess but thats mostly above my paygrade.

really like feedback on that specifically, Im going for a comm degree this fall and want to know if its worthwhile
>whats lorne like and how much longer is he staying

>is the show concerned about ratings and inb4 "saturday night dead", is their a sense that show is losing touch/becoming too political because thats what everyone is saying

general industry
>are you staying in NYC or moving
>is there a good amount of work there vs LA
>who else have you met/worked with and what were they like
>is there a growing film/tv scene outside of NYC/LA, Ive heard Atlanta is on the rise for that

Tommy Davidson, Damon Wayens, That guy who played Zena warrior Princess.

I get how SNL is a sacred allegiance for comics, but I'm a viewer & all I see is how Keenan.Thompson should run for his safty.

You maybe the second cond comind of Phil Hatman, but the talent around you ain't necessarily Kevin Nealon.

A death trap.

What was your favorite set to build?
Did any sets almost break down during the live show?
>>
>>83333115
not going to get all of these but...

> how did you get the job
answered this up above.

> who have you met that you liked/hated
really really liked working with adam driver. did not like working with aziz.

>do you like the job and whats it like
its ok, it pays the bills, but the hours are ridiculous and it gets pretty boring at times, but thats with any set.

>is the show concerned about ratings
no.

>have you fucked anybody
no one important

>are there there other posters from snl on here
yes without a doubt.

>are you staying in nyc or moving
would like to stay but would also like to have a better living situation

>is there a good amount of work there vs LA
yes, lots of tv. very easy to find gigs if youre not dumb.

>who else have you met/worked with and what were they like
i mentioned david o russel and james franco above -- both of them are dicks. can go into it more if desired. i worked with clive owen for a week and he was great. met a lot of b-listers from TV but cant really remember anyone of note. i did work on The Blacklist a bit, james spader is nice but he takes forever on set. he slows the day down a ton.

> is there a growing film/tv scene outside of nyc/la?
yes, move to georgia. you'll be hired and in a union in about a week. this is legitimate. if i were starting now, i'd move straight to georgia.

>what about boston or new england
nah. lots of corporate work and occasional indie flick, but nothing worth it.

>what are you looking to do in the industy, any goals moving forward
pretty burnt out of being in production and on set, thinking of moving to post-production full time within the next few years for a slightly more structured life, but we'll see.

>any general advice
honestly, just smile and be nice, dont be too dumb and you're guaranteed work. i know some straight fucking morons who work on sets clearing 6 figures a year, but theyre fun to work with so they're kept around.
>>
>>83333761
>moving to georgia

Any chance of post-grad internship opportunities? Or low-level jobs if I don't have a communications degree?

probably a while. Turner and all it's underlings are there. There's good tax incentives. Ton of shows shoot there. And Disney has a ton of studio space deals etc.
