16:9 or 2.35:1 (21:9)?
>>
4:3
>>
should have color coded the aspect ratios.
>>
>>83302009
1:1 is the only true kino
>>
>>83302114
no
>>83302009
this picture is a bit misleading actually because if you were already shooting on 1.33:1 for instance you would consider how composition works for the frame you're shooting at, not how it works for 2.35:1 to be cut after that, and most films nowdays are coming out on 2.35:1 for the home releases too anyway.
>>
>>83302169
a screen in the shape of our field of view is the only true kino
>>
1.85 is the best, 2.35 is look at me bullshit.

this is a more accurate chart. wider ratio means less frame is shown.

Regular cinema wise 2.35 is okay

But if we're talking IMAX, 1.43/1.85 is optimal
>>
TV: 16:9
Kino: 21:9
pleb shit: everything else
>>
>>83303570
No, that's bullshit. You could do the same in reverse.

no, camera sensors are always the same proportions regardless of size. the image is "cropped" by the lens. widescreen means less frame is used. vitorio storaro (dp of apocalypse now) developed a system where the film wuld run twice as fast so that two halves of every frame would be usable and not waste film
>>
>>83303859
Please just stop. You have literally no idea what you are talking about. It's embarrassing.

The only good television shows ever filmed were done in 4:3
>Seinfeld
>Twin Peaks
>It's always sunny early seasons
>>
16:9
It ain't called the Golden Ratio for nothin'.
>>
2x anamorphic 3.55:1
>>
why does 2:35 always look like shit compared to 1:78 and 1:85? the latter always look far sharper

maybe it's the lack of black bars that is making me imagine the increased quality
>>
>>83305308
>golden ratio

That's 16:10.
>>
21:9 always, the only tv show i know of that does it is the clone wars, are there any others?
>>
All movies should be shot at 1.85:1 or 1.78:1 unless there is a specific artistic reason not to. 99% of the people who ever see a movie are going to watch it on a 16:9 TV after its theatrical release. It makes no sense to produce a movie in an aspect ratio that can only be properly played back on a theater projector for 0.1% of the people who will ever see it that way.

>tfw no perfect 2:1 ratio that uses 3000 X 1500 or 4000 X 2000 resolution

Really rumbles my numbers autism to be honest
>>
>>83302009
To be honest, when I see the pretentious black bars at the top and bottom of the screen cutting off half the picture, I'm done. I can't always turn if off if it's something my parents picked, but I'm not going to bother paying attention to something that can't even bother to get something so simple right.

>>
>>83309857
Why are anime and television shows in proper rations but so many films have the black bars that cut off half the screen? It's like I need a fucking projector and a film room just to properly watch these gay ass movies. Fuck movies
>>
>>83305308
Why 16:9?
Because when you see it, you turn 177.777 degrees and walk away.

>>
>>83310040
>>83309857
You faggets realise 21:9 is the ideal aspect ratio right, in 10 years when everyone has 21:9 monitors and tv's you are gonna have to put up with black bars on 16:9 tv shows while proper kino has been 21:9 since the 50's
>>
>>83305308
But that's 16:10.
