Why was early carlin so much better than late carlin?
>>
>>83297608
Cause he still had some hope left
>>
>>83297608
Once his wife got sick he got bitter and political. That made him just unfunny and pissy.
>>
>>83297608

Because you like it more.
>>
Bitter, old, grumpy, curmudgeon Carlin is best Carlin
>>
>>83298129
Hi, Hillary!
>>
Angry Carlin is best Carlin
>>
>>83298129
Because when I watch a comedy special I want the self-righteous fedora tipping of a man who has the mindset of an angsty16-year-old.
>>
>>83297608
Early Carlin told jokes and people laughed. Late Carlin was the trailblazer for the likes of Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert where he quit telling jokes and just started ranting about politics to the horking cheers of faggot liberals.
>>
Because he told jokes instead of making political rants.

Peak Carlin was not the early pun master rattling off intricate skits nor the later nihilist making jokes about suicide, but in between. His peak was late 80s early 90s. I think his best special was Jammin' in NY. But particularly the very last one he did was very good as well
>>
>>83297608
Because Rick Moranis made fun of him on TV one time, and George took it so hard that he completely changed his act.

KEK
>>
>>83298281
Carlin was a nihilist. He had a hate boner for human kind in general in later years. He wasn't for the liberal or conservative agenda. And this was before BOTH parties completed the transformation into absolutely embarrassing parodies. Liberals thought he was an ally until he was interviewed by anyone seeking a like-minded opinion from him. Watch some of his very few panel appearances on Real Time or other such shows. He hated people.

Much more suited to this anti-social site.

"Order for me chaos for everyone else"

One of my favorite quotes from him.

>>83301185
He was really good at making something sound funny and borderline serious, it's that delicious psychopathy what made him entertaining, now every comedian pretends to be a sane balanced human being, it's repugnant.
>>
>>83297608
But he wasn't.

Learn2carlin
>>
>>83297608
Because early Carlin was a comedian whereas later Carlin was a public speaker.

>You ever notice on 4chan, anyone who knows more than you is a loser, and everyone who knows less than you is a newfag?

>And everything... EVERYTHING on 4chan is divided up into little convenient categories... we got the random board, the anime, the gay girls, trap girls, young girls, old girls, fun girls, fat girls, boy girls and gay boys! And if you don't have a board you like you can *POP* make one yourself just like that! And we wonder why kids aren't studying as much as they used to anymore? When I was a kid the only board WE had was the blackboard... It was a good board, because anytime you didn't want to see the porn or bad language on it, you just *WOOSH* erased your history!

>And on the internet, everything is made using metaphoric language, you ever noticed that? Think about it? Download? Why down? Why load? Are we comparing hard drives to loading docks now? I know a couple dockworkers who would be PRETTY embarassed by some of the language if they went on 4chan!

>But then when you put something from your hard drive onto the internet, that's an UPload... Why? Why not left-load? Or right-load? "Hey, Tony, have you been left-loading music again?" "No, Mah, I swear, I was just right-loading a torrent!"

Because he was funnier, since his main interest was telling brilliant jokes.

Nothing will ever be better than his routine The 12 Dirty Words You Can Never Say On Television- but not the Class Clown version, the one from Occupation Foole that led to the Supreme Court case.

It's a brilliant bit, because essentially it's just a series of one-liners about every dirty word in the list, but structured in a way to make a point. It has everything. Jokes, musical rhythm, and a message. But the funny is first.
>>
>>83297608
Because he was the best observational comic of all time.

This is probably his best observational comedy bit, and so fucking relatable:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ULNX2k0YbI

Although this isn't early Carlin, it's middle Carlin, it's way funnier than Seinfeld to me. And almost completely clean.

I don't know how Seinfeld got away with imitating Carlin so blatantly in the 80s.

That's a lot of words to describe something that was ultimately less impressive than Carlin's jokes about the difference between football and baseball or his jokes about the differences between cats and dogs:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TnT8i_PwDJc

99% of people would say the cats vs dogs jokes are funnier.
>>
>>83303879
That gif.... FUCK YOU
>>
>>83303804
I think ultimately Seinfeld became better at observational comedy than Carlin, though
>>
>>83303804
Seinfeld was influenced by Carlin obviously, but the best impression of Carlin ever was done by Rick Moranis:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pt1R9KbqELQ

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-3j-yE49gvM

My favourite Carlin bits are the ones that are such really silly and stupid. Like "Where is all the blue food?" and "I hate it when they try to sneak nuts into my dessert."

This is probably Carlin's masterpiece, "Give my love to Klaus."

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8spYn7ju4tg

It starts as a typical observational "you ever notice this" bit, but it builds and builds and builds into such complete silliness as he takes the situation to its reductio ad absurdum, and a nice gay joke to boot. I also like that he named them "Klaus" and "Wilhelm," it's so memorable and silly.

Carlin would've been a great clean comedian. He should've done at least one special for kids.
>>
Carlin was basically /b/, the comedian.
>>
>>83303899
>99% of people would say the cats vs dogs jokes are funnier

Where did you get that statistic, your dubs?
>>
>>83297608
His wife used to edit his material. You can notice a sudden steep drop in the quality of the sets shortly after her death.
>>
>>83304647
The university of my eardrums and eyeballs, where we found that people laugh more at jokes than at nihlistic rants.
>>
Because I don't give a shit about politics and ideologies. It's beating a dead horse. His older shit was way more clever.

Kinda analogous to why I find /pol/ so annoying.

He made fun of everyone across the political spectrum. You are either too corrupted by /pol/ and anti-sjw influences not to get this hence you cherry pick what offended your sensibilities or you haven't listened to most of his later stand up.

Watch this and ask yourself who came first: Robin Williams or this incarnation of Carlin?

Because this fucking clip is ALL of Robin Williams' body language (and facial expressions) in 8 minutes. Did Carlin imitate Williams? Or is this another example of Robin Williams being a thief?
>>
>>83306359
This is more like Steve Martin if anything, but Carlin was doing this kind of shit in the early 70s. He was always extremely physical, like a clown.
>>
>>83304079
>Carlin would've been a great clean comedian. He should've done at least one special for kids.

Looking at his late career it's bizarre remembering him on Thomas the Tank Engine.

He didn't say anything b8-worthy. Carlin had a clown's skill at physical comedy. It was funny for kids when he was Mr Conductor.

>The world is like a ride at an amusement park, and when you choose to go on it, you think it's real, because that's how powerful our minds are. And the ride goes up and down and round and round and it has thrills and chills and it's very brightly colored and it's very loud. And it's fun, for a while.

>Some people have been on the ride for a long time, and they begin to question: 'Is this real? Or is this just a ride?' And other people have remembered, and they come back to us and they say 'Hey! Don't worry, don't be afraid -- ever -- because... this is just a ride.' And we kill those people.

>'Shut him up! We have a lot invested in this ride! Shut him up! Look at my furrows of worry; look at my big bank account, and my family. This has to be real.' It's just a ride. But we always kill those good guys who try and tell us that -- ever notice that? -- and we let the demons run amok. But it doesn't matter, because... it's just a ride, and we can change it any time we want. It's only a choice. No effort. No worry. No job. No savings and money. Just a choice, right now, between fear and love. The eyes of fear want you to put bigger locks on your door, buy bigger guns, close yourself off. The eyes of love, instead, see all of us as one.

>Here's what we can do to change the world, right now, into a better ride. Take all that money we spend on weapons and defense each year and, instead, spend it feeding, clothing and educating the poor of the world, which it would do many times over -- not one human being excluded -- and we can explore space together, both inner and outer, forever. In peace.
