Script is done. It's up to HBO if they gonna accept it or not. It depends on how good it is I guess. Building all those sets for one movie isn't gonna be cheap though... I don't know why they're not aiming for a trilogy or something instead.

Of coure it could. He was barely even relevant in season 3, and I can't see Tolliver sticking around for a decade in Deadwood to play second fiddle to Al.

You're also forgetting that it's just a 2 hour film, some characters will always get cut for time. That there is my biggest concern, only long form tv could create the vibrant community of Deadwood and I don't think a single narrative film can recreate that

I think it would be very interesting to see what Deadwood would look like 10 years later. The town would be completely different from season 3 though, it was only 2 years old at that point, it would have a post office and a train station and all that shit by now.
