Nah, back when movie was released ,it depicted dystopian hot ,sweaty los Angeles (back when people still cared about global warming),
movie perfectly depicted that scorching summer and people on the edge because heat+daily urban bullshit,even you as viewer could feel that sticky,shitty feel(they don't makem like that these days) .
Unfortunately, Danny Glover(even if on peak of his popularity) was just not strong enough personality to carry movie to cult status(there was nothing wrong with his acting, I'm afraid it had to do a little about color=I'm not racist, I'm just trying to be realist here, it was a movie for white halfnerds).

Predator 2 is mediocre. It's not bad but it's also not good because most of it is just a high budget tv cop drama with one or two charismatic actors. The presence of the predator is what elevates it. The first Predator would've be a good movie even if there was no predator in it.

Pretty sure preschooler-6th grader me preferred Predators, once I got a bit older though I was able to appreciate the Alien universes' far superior aesthetic and mythos. The first two Predator movies and the original AvP comics will always have a special place in my heart, but the whole idea of a giant trophy hunting rastafarian lizard man from outer space is pretty fucking stupid honestly.

Predators series is more for Men. It's a macho Man vs the Beast, Human vs Demon, primal urge in us.

Aliens is more philosophical and meant to give you a sense of helplessness. Many plebs who think they are patricians like it.

The AVP series on the other hand is for the types of cunts who enjoyed Jurassic World, will watch a movie for Chris Pratt, and think Jack Black is funny.
