>ywn bump into your scarletfu in a hotel in japan
Why even kino?
Her
Lost In Translation
Obligatory Wong Kar Wai
To lesser extents wim wenders and jarmusch
Children of ozu and antonioni
It was either this or Lost in Translation that led me to work in an airport for a time. I loved that job, so surreal at 3 or 4am when you see a family and they're all excited because they're going somewhere exotic. Getting to drive trucks around carpeted terminals when it's entirely quiet except for the latest boarding.
I don't know if the easthetic really fits but I got similar vibes from Garden State.
My Blueberry Nights could be to your liking but I didn't like it.

This kinda makes me want to work in an airport

same
I really like the ethereal nature of airports and hotels, people coming and going, everything seems so transient whilst also being a hub for so many things
being a night porter in a hotel seems cool too
Up in the Air gave me the same feelingswhy is night so much cooler than day

Night owl people watcher here too. Graveyard shifts at an airport / hotel bar is pretty much my dream job.

man, i love this movie so much.
so few movies give off this longing vibe of romance with its environment, it's like a shoegaze album came to life. Dreamy scenery, quiet and yet comfy atmosphere/dialogue. It doesn't need to go anywhere, its just about enjoying the solace.
Like a quiet vacation. It's full of wanderlust, taking in the scenery and thinking.

i think the aesthetic of airports has something to do with the excitement of visiting them
idk about you but as a kid whenever my family took me on holiday being in the airport pumped me up so much for travelling
i guess also since they have a really modern and sleek design
