DT strikes the perfect balance between gross out shock humor and intelligently subtle wordplay jokes or hidden animation easter eggs. God tier use of production music too.

Would never want a revival, though, because it would never be as good as in its prime.

Indeed, the movie was so subpar. I mean, I get what they tried to do and say, but it was so hamfisted. In the end, it made a point, namely that not making a point is valid too.
Also a movie just couldn't provide parallel plot lines for the characters which also reduced the funny potential. Hero fucking a corpse throughout the whole movie? We knew he was a psycho necrophiliac from the show already, stop beating the joke into the ground without any subtlety.
