I think Seinfeld is very funny, but I think the stand-up bits with Jerry are not. They're so unfunny I almost wonder if they're meant to be bad.

OP does have a point here. Seinfeld himself is dull but the show is hilarious.

But considering an long-running joke in the series is that Jerry isn't funny, I'd say it's a mix.

I watched it for the first time a few years ago and George had he laughing during nearly every episode.
