Not sure how well known it is locally, but not many have heard of that show outside the uk, whereas Harry Potter is a worldwide phenomenon. He's far to recognizable/ attached to his character. Kind of like how Tom cruise is Tom cruise in every movie he plays in

Fortunately for Tom, people make half a dozen movies a year with Tom Cruise as the main character, so he gets to pick and choose which one he wants to be in, and the others have to settle for substitute actors or go back into development.

I'm not sure if you're joking, but here's an actual excerpt from an actual screenplay:

I wonder who the writer saw in that role?

Moffat talked about that in an interview. I can't remember for sure, but I think he said something like this:

He had a good joke about it, but it screwed up the flow of the scene, so he cut it. Then, in editing, he realised they'd left it with no explanation, but there have been so many other times the TARDIS didn't translate with no explanation that you can just chalk it up to lots of TARDIS subsystems being finicky and not working all the time.

There are some people on Twitter who insist that it was intentional, the simulation was imperfect, and in fact that's how the Doctor knew he was in a simulation. But that's pretty silly, even before Moffat directly contradicted them, given that he obviously didn't figure out he was in a simulation until later.

Oh for fuck's sake, it doesn't matter. Doctor Who in the UK is a fucking institution within television and the fact that no one seems to be giving a fuck about it seems to indicate that the cancellation of the new series will come sooner than later and it will all be Moffat's fucking fault.
>>
>>83190093
Cancellation wouldn't be the end of the world. The wilderness years still provided us with some quality Who.
>>83190193
No need to apologise.
>>
Come up with another episode where the Doctor is forced to assume a human idenity and use the chameleon arc. I'd have the 12th Doctor think he was an Irish Rebel during the 1798 Rebellion
>>
>>83190222
It does matter. BBC Studios is now a separate, for-profit corporation. Most of their money comes from overseas sales, online sales, and merchandising (and I meant overpriced geek shit, not Toys-R-Us). Their biggest asset is the BBC brand's value overseas, and their second biggest is the Doctor Who brand.

So Chibnall isn't going to reverse the focus on foreigners that's been going on since 2009, he's going to accelerate. Doctor Who will be a British institution as in an institution of Britishness to sell to the rest of the world, not an institution for British people.
>>
>everyone was expecting Moffat to go full crazy
>Moffat is going full stop with recycled ideas of his own

What went wrong? Are they saving budget money for Chibs? Saving marketing money? Seriously, what the fuck is happening?

>>
>>83190257
The wilderness years provided us with amazing stuff because of a bunch of unlikely coincidences.

>BBC didn't realise renewing Target's license for Virgin was going to be used to create a spinoff series.
>Virgin didn't give a shit and let Peter Darvill-Evans do whatever he wanted.
>Peter had no idea how to edit a tie-in novel series and did all kinds of crazy stuff from aiming it at an adult audience to an open submission policy that he talked about online.
>The internet was at exactly the right size where RADW could drive new writers to Virgin without flooding them with more crap than anyone could read.
>Even after the novels became somewhat successful, BBC didn't take back the licence because the relevant people continuously believed they were one year away from a big new deal to bring Doctor Who back in some way.

If it was canceled again, we'd have the NSAs continuing as they are, and if we're lucky Big Finish, but possibly not even that—if they want to sell off the property to someone like Disney (which they would, if they'd really canceled it), Disney wouldn't want entanglements like the BF contract.

>>
>>83191232

>>
>>83191246
Ministeress isn't a real word.
>>
>>83191282
Because it would sound odd?
>>
>>83191128
Yep. Chibnall says he has big plans for the show, and when he give details it's all about wanting to be more involved in online deals and in every level of the merchandising.

That's what the BBC cares about. If he does that as well as they want, they'll give him the budget he wants (within reason), and the show will continue just fine.

And meanwhile, everyone will care not to care about the few dozen grumpy fans who predict the end of the series every year based on numbers they don't understand or just made up.

It actually doesn't sound that inappropriate for May, but for Thatcher it would have sounded very weird, even though Thatcher was an aggressively conservative anti-feminist and May isn't.

She could have just said "I am the Master and you will give me all your candy" or something and it would have worked fine.

But after she said "I couldn't very well keep calling myself The Master", and "Missy" has worked so well for her character, it sounds weird to call her The Master.

I get the feeling Denis never figured out how to use his hand. He went to an independent school whose mandate is to protect boys from the moral dangers of modern urban life. His first wife dumped him the day he got back from fighting the Nazis and filed for an annulment claiming they'd never consummated the marriage. And there's a story that when his unit was sent to defend recaptured Rome, his subordinates immediately went to find a whorehouse, while he got drunk and went golfing.

Both she and Nyssa had suggested that the Doctor should have a man-to-man chat with him about how his body was changing as he went through his teenage years, and should offer to give him some deodorant, but the Doctor had suddenly mumbled something like ‘been there, done that centuries ago, no thanks’ and headed off somewhere else. relating to, that's a really difficult question desu. I'd have to say 5, he's the most passive of the doctors and it's the people he surrounds himself with that really gets to shine.

Favourite. That's tough, there all great characters, Hartnell is fantastic, but in novelizations and most of BF there's a certain spark that's lost by hartnell not being present. As for McCoy. he's a solid doctor on paper, but \with how he's been trending in the Main range lately and his inconsistent acting hurts him.

Ultimately, I'd have to say tennant, not because of him as an actor, but I just didn't care for the direction the show was taking him.

Positives are getting to watch the show evolve and grow. A concept so flexible in form and genre that it still works and continue to grow and expand, it's exciting to see it happening. It also helps to get a better feel for the time and the specific era's of the show. Things like season 4 and 17 I've really come to love while doing this journey.

As for negatives, there are stories which simply aren't designed to work when listened to like this, like Seven to One. Little two minute chunks I have to listen to at some point between other stories. but there's no substance to them, the first doctor solves the problem and after that there all just kind of there.

Also, retroactive continuity, not little things like the daleks origins and capabilities being tweaked, things like in a first doctor story, terms like gallifreyan, time lord being thrown around is really jarring.

Lastly, ongoing storylines are a bitch, when I reached the doctors that are active at BF, Most of them have an ongoing arc that's not wrapped up, so I reach it and suddenly, the companions gone, with no explanation. it's kind of annoying.

trump insult in the episode HAHA

If last week’s episode confused you, the first minute of this one should help clear things up.
Nardole isn’t just sexy, you know. He’s excellent at hacking into CCTV cameras, too.
Bill’s second – well, first – date with Penny gets rudely interrupted.
Check the time on your phone. Tick tock goes the Doomsday Clock…
A familiar face from UNIT makes an unexpected appearance.
“I wouldn’t have even voted for the President. He’s ******.”
Move over, Bill. It looks like the Doctor has just found himself a new companion.
“The end of your life has already begun.” Oh, Doctor. Say it isn’t so!
The Monks are back, but they’ve really been here all along…
Another week, another cliffhanger. And this one is a doozy.

I think many people were dead set against Nardole based on Husbands of River Song when he was written solely as comic relief. But from Doctor Mysterio onwards, after he had become an official companion and Moffat wrote him as an actual character he's been fantastic

I was reading two books of a four book series recently and the narrator comes across as a well meaning criminal (who you sort of assume did something like jaywalking) and is raising a cute innocent kid who can do miracles like bring people back to life and give toys life (no not the Celestial Toymaker of course).

Turns out the narrator is a reformed mass murder and rapist who tortured his "family" to death and had something done to him so he was incapable of hurting people.

Then the kid he was raising kills himself after seeing a former god have his brains blown out in front of him. He also thinks that the kid is a reincanation of a friend that he greatly regretted killing and he regularly visits that friend's grave which makes it even more messed up.

90% of the book is reserved for light and fluffy stuff and long dense rambling interludes of the narrator's philosophy or what happened in their world, though, but fuck did it get VNA level dark fast and the writing style reminds me of that Faction Paradox book Of the City of the Saved.

Pity, though, that book really whetted my appetite for a proper video adaptation of Big Finish's Master.

>Turns out the narrator is a reformed mass murder and rapist who tortured his "family" to death and had something done to him so he was incapable of hurting people.

Glad Kilgrave was okay in the end

Haha speaking of End of Evangelion, do you have the Moffat version of this? I made this one, but I know there's a Moffat one floating around somewhere.
