In all likelihood, George Lucas was forced into the deal, Disney had some sort of dirt on him, enough to get him to sell Star Wars below market value. They probably lubed the deal with some kind-sounding clauses about "keeping George in the loop" or "working together with George to bring SW to a new generation".
Then the ink dried and the laughed him out to room.

Im made they threw out George's story ideas. He has good ideas and was finally stepping done from being the writer/director/word of god on star wars. JJ doesn't have good ideas, he can only homage things. Even Mark Hammil is made he got tricked into it. Lucas signed on Mark and then disney bought the franchise, that must feel so shitty. For george to be like "here's what Luke has been doing, here's what he'll do in ep 7, 8 and 9" Mark says yes, and then.......he doesn't get to do those things.
