Why can't current movies and TV shows ever get the 80s right? Most of the people who make them were alive back then yet you see pic related, a supposed teenage girl.
Meanwhile... (next post)
...A quick google search shows you how girl actually looked in the 80s (and early 90s)
Anyone got other examples?
Another one, this is apparently a married couple from the 70s
And this is a real married couple from the 70s

My older sister was born in 74 and when she was a teenager my mom made her stop with the big hair thing because she was using so much hairspray.
I knew a few girls who did have big hair, but just as many had pig tails and braids all the time. It also depended on what type of hair the girl had and what length it was. In OP pic, this looks like a reasonably attractive girl with long healthy hair. Why fuck that up?

My parents got married in 1972 and they didn't look like this at all. The only thing about this picture that really seems typical to the decade is the coke bottle glasses. My mom had the hugest glasses at the time.
My dad looked like a guy might look today, except his hair had a little bit of a wave in it.

You guys don't get it. It's the aura. There's a vintage aura that cannot be replicated unless you pay attention to every detail, from clothes, hair, make up, accesories...
I bet you $100 to find any single photo from the 80s that looks like Paige there.

It's cherry-picking on your part, average joes have been more or less wearing the same jeans and shirt with a sensible haircut for 70+ years, but if you want to be hammy in your period piece, you put a heavy hand of hair gel on everyone in the 50s, you make everyone in the 80s look like John Holmes, you make every guy in the 00s have frosted tips and every guy in the 10s with a sidecut.

This, besides Paige isn't really a mall kid, she's some hard-working Christian activist. I like that some of the Jennings' disguises are just hangovers from the 70s. It seems more legit than the image of the 80s we get from the media.
