Why is this drab rehash a billion-dollar movie?
I dunno I haven't seen it

half a billion on marketing alone, a quarter billion to pay emma watson's feminist fee, and the last quarter for everything else.
and it was still shit
Quality has nothing to do with success in the age of brand recognition and arrested development man-child / women-child nostalgia pandering.
The awfulness is spectacular.

I've honestly never been to a movie I wanted to walk out on until I saw this. If I wasn't with my mom, I would have left like a half-hour into it. It was a really weird feeling, I almost felt angry being stuck in the theater watching it. I don't even know why I hated it so much. Maybe it was because of Emma Watson?

I'd put this one on the director. The colour palette is all over the place. And this movie doesn't divorce itself enough from the original. The village in the opening is supposed to be this small, rural affair but it is overflowing with assholes like a medieval Times Square. They spend a scene talking about Belle's dead mother but it goes nowhere. There's no payoff.
One thing they should have mirrored was the beast in the original was this great hulking faggot but this new guy is just a Chad with horns and a Portugese father. Pic related.
