They also hired Tom Woodruff (Artist/suit actor for Alien/Predator/etc) to redesign Ghidorah/Mothra/Rodan.
Yay or nay?
>>83111933
>They also hired Tom Woodruff (Artist/suit actor for Alien/Predator/etc) to redesign Ghidorah/Mothra/Rodan.
How about you make some new fucking monsters that don't look like office supplies instead of trotting out Rodan in a new hat
Lol, the only thing that's practical is my cock.
>>83111933
Obviously yay, you just need to compare Jurassic world to park, covenant to alien and it's immediately obvious that practical effects are infinitely better and more effective and less prone to awful dating.
Godzilla was shit though so even if the effects are good, if the film is 90% some dickwad soldier no one cares about it doesn't really matter anyway
'Practical effects' is pretty much a marketing gimmick phrase at this point
>REAL SETS
>PRACTICAL EFFECTS
Godzilla 2 info roundup:
>Confirmed practical effects of some kind
>Tom Woodruff Jr is designing monsters
>Wolves are involved
>Mocap is involved
>Takes place on the east coast
>Mothra's design is "controversial"
>Will have an "animal rights" message
I really hope this one doesn't suck
>>83112014
>Godzilla was shit though so even if the effects are good, if the film is 90% some dickwad soldier no one cares about it doesn't really matter anyway
they had all the right ingredients but either misused them or took them out, removing Cranston from the movie was the first mistake, he should always have been involved and comparing notes with Serizawa, if Olsen's character has to be there don't just make her stand they jaw agape, give her something to do , the bridge scene for example could have had her either tend to the bus driver who is injured or drive the bus to safety.
for the climax Cranston is reluctant to let his son go do the mission to defuse the nuke because he's afraid of losing him like he lost his wife, he may have been distant in the last few years trying to prove that what happened was not just an accident but he is still a father and cares for his son.
Movie ends, MUTOs defeated, family fully reunited
>>83112014
The movie is still going to be heavy CG, otherwise it will be strange close ups or a fucker in a suit.
>>83112316
>or a fucker in a suit.
I see no problem with this
this is such a bad idea
>>83112316
A fucker in a suit can be amazing, see Alien from 1979 and compare it to the abortion that is the cgi in covenant
>>83112466
The xenomorph is human shaped, so a guy in it makes it move "narutally", Godzilla is not human shape.
maybe they mean animatronics like jp, either way this is gonna be good
I'll believe it when I see it.
>>83112537
God I hope, those raptors were awesome.
probably explosions, cars flying, debris, etc
and a miniature model of godzilla like the one from 1998 https://youtu.be/hl0hnPXNBfA
fuck yea
>>83112524
>The xenomorph is human shaped, so a guy in it makes it move "narutally", Godzilla is not human shape.
>>83111933
ONE TO ONE SCALE GODZILLA, DO IT. MAKE TERUYOSHI NAKANO'S DREAM COME TRUE
better not be like the first one, fucking drama trash
didn't see a problem with the CGI in the first one
>>83112552
I've seen people talk about this a lot lately. Why did they opt for cg again? Seems like a waste of money f they all ready had something.
>>83112665
https://youtu.be/qdDwrY5KpvI
>practical effects
Hell yeah. Tired of the "cgi looks better" meme
>>83112524
>bipedal
>arms
>head and shoulders
That's pretty human shaped desu senpai. And I doubt it'll be 100% practical, and the practical effects likely won't just be suit actors. Animatronics and such.
>>83112524
Why are all the oldies so beloved then?

>>83112772
This. CGI from four years ago looks like absolute shit now. The only solution is to ho back and remaster everything, something I think a select few mivies deserve.Fuck, even Jurassic World looks like ass and that wasn't that long ago.
>>83112787
will they ever release this version of the flick?
what happened to mew afterwards?
>>83112524
>Godzilla is not human shape
He kinda is.
>>83112588
>Never been the biggest fan of practical effects in daikaiju films
Aren't daikaiju films known for their suits and miniatures?
>>83112845
I unironically think that Jurassic park 1 looks better than Jurassic world. I liked Jurassic world but the dinosaurs looked like something out of a video game cutscene.
>>83112846
>what happened to mew afterwards?
She's on Fargo Season 3 currently airinggot her ass beat real good
>>83112850
the guy is a twitter normiecuck who probably has literally only seen Pacific Rim
Almost this entire fucking genre is low budget "practical"
>>83112846
Unfortunately that is unlikely to ever happen. All we have is some behind the scenes footage of what could have been.

Thanks, guys.
>>83112845
Jurassic World looked like ass day one in the theaters.
Tho original uses a lot of practical effects.
>>83111933
>Tom Woodruff
from adi, the guys that did these >>83112552 >>83112787 >>83112938
these are great news, but most likely they'll do animatronics / miniatures
although they can work a man-in-suit
>>83111933
Fuck yeah. I don't mind CGI though.
This is too rich
>Shin Godzilla ends up a kaijukino
>Chinks and jews at Legendary panic
>'w-w-we gotta upstage those Japs and do something that will get lots of attention! We'll do like JJ and boast about practical effects!'
>It ends up looking like fucking Barney
>Movie flops
>Legendary Monsterverse goes right to the trash
>>83114583
>Wanting the Monsterverse to fail
Kaijufags like you disgust me.
>>83114645
Yeah because we need more Americans involved with these characters.
>>83114583
the monsterverse is already trash.
even 90's american godzilla was better than Kong or G2014
>>83115000
>1998' Zilla is a good movie meme
>>83112316
They are probably going to do something similar to the first Godzilla movie and show him sparingly. There will probably be few shots of his whole body, it'll mostly be his head or parts of his body.
>>83115000
No, it wasn't. I've actually seen 90's american godzilla, it is garbage on a whole new level.
>>83115000
This reeks of underage and contrarianism
>>83111933
>attempting to make another godzilla movie after based anno BTFO the west once and for all
>>83116739
What was even more hilarious is that when Edwards was actually IN Japan promoting Rouge One (hey remember that movie being a thing) they naturally asked him if he saw Shin Godzilla and he just mumbled 'h-ha I've b-been too busy...'
>>83116584
I never said it was good. I said it was better than the monsterverse, which it factually is.
>>83116667
yes it was, sorry nerd.
>>83116715
I was actually alive in the 90's to watch it, unlike you
Reminder they did nothing wrong.
>>83111933
There really isn't much left in the Godzilla franchise, which is why the Japs pretty much took the movies to camp absurdity with a little more interesting scifi stuff sometimes pinched in.
It's something I might rent if drunk.
>>83116943
>Genuinely creative kaijus that weren't absurdly overpowered
>"lol, they look like the cloverfield monster!"
It's a big fucking shame that they will probably be never used again.
>>83116943
They were just animals following their instincts. But when an animal kills a human, we put it down. That's just how it's done.
>>83117189
>>83117119
>>83116943

i see now why Godzilla 2 is gonna be an animal rights movie
>>83117214
Dayum shame.
>>83112109
>Mothra's design is "controversial"
Is it a giant flying dick? I hope so
Practical effects could just mean shit like squibs
It's fucking nothing
how the fuck are they gonna make this fight work
>>83117340
God bless this artist
Captcha: came orchard
>>83111979
a practical stick
>>83118288
godzilla is gonna launch kong into the air to catch mothra/ghidora
>>83118288
>H-he will grow!
Is Kong going to grow 78 fucking meters during the 70s to 2020?
>>83118288
>check em
i love this so much
>>83112014
You could never pull off the action scenes in World with the practical effects of Park. Nobody wan't that outdated crap anymore. You could argue for it maybe 10 years ago, but practical effects are expensive and time consuming and error-prone and unwieldy, in 2017 cgi both looks and animates better than it. Pic related, he looks fucking PERFECT and there's nothing you can do about it.
>>83111933
The reason CGI has almost completely replaced practical effects is because movies filmed digitally are too high-definition for practical effects to appear realistic enough. So much of the environment and lighting in modern films is color-corrected and CGI-enhanced that placing an animatronic in the middle would look utterly bizarre. Any suit performer or prosthetic makeup in this movie is going to be heavily enhanced with motion-capture. I mean, seriously, how in the fuck can anyone expect a modern Godzilla vs. King Kong giant-monster-movie-franchise to feature practical effects? Don't be silly.
>>83118532
Given that King Kong is a creature unlike anything that exists in our planet and we can't know for sure its biology, I'd say its pretty possible it can grow that tall in 50 years.
>>83118826
pfx are less expensive than cgi my man, cgi is time consuming too
>>83112552
I see nothing wrong with the CGI version. Fucking whiny manchild nerds need to complain about everything
>>83118956
nope
>>83111933
If they movie doesn't blue ball us with human scenes amidst Godzilla fighting scenes and have an actual plot, then sure.
>but anon, we're talking bout whether we should use practical or cgi
Nigga, its 2017, we use both and it basically depends on if the studio can make the cgi look good or not.
>>83119039
the video here >>83112740 clearly says cgi was more expensive than the practical effects they used in the thing
>>83119518
This smells like... 2014.
>>83117119
>>83117189
Could legendary get away with showing them mating onscreen?Never mind that they reproduce through external fertilization (the female lays eggs and the male sprays them with sperm, like in fish and amphibians), as opposed to internal fertilization (ie. most reptiles, mammals, humans).
