Put him in a crazy situation and demonstrate his ability to handle it like a cold calculated bad ass mother fucker.
The first taken demonstrated this pretty well I think. Particularly when he shot the French guys wife in the arm.

use a cop out like abused as a child, abandoned orphan, lost a sibiling tragically, revenging some past crime.

god forbid you actually just make them into a regular person, because who wants to read about normal people.

stoicism is not interesting until its taken to an extreme degree. where either the character is exposed to an extreme situation or must make extreme choices. unlike hedonism and degeneracy which can be funny or interesting by itself, stoicism only works as a counter to something else
