What the fug was the deal with Matt Damon in Interstellar
I didn't understand this part at all, it seemed really out of place
???
Space can change you, Anon.
I have been deployed in one of Saturn moons for 3 years. I was never the same.
>>83030289
Saturn doesn't have any moons dipshit, you probably went to Jupiter or something
>>83030238
i duno i didnt see that movie lol
>Be Matt Damon
>Be in two scifi movies where I'm stranded in space
>Jessica Chastain is in both films
What did Ridley Scott mean by this?
>>83030238
wasn't it just a Martian cross-over? Matt Damon's surprise walk-on stage...
>>83030356
Thanks for bumping my thread then lol
>>83030335
Is no one going to point out how fucking retarded this anon is?
>>83030335
Are you fucking stupid? What is this then?
>Dr. H. Sapien
What did Nolan mean by this ?
>>83030238
You weren't tested like he was
>MANN
>MAN
MAN IS EVIL
it is quite simple
I didn't get it either. He wanted to go home and a ship shows up finally and he tries to kill the crew? WHy not just leave with them? Their intention was to go back anyway, unless I missed something.
>>83030640
He wanted to complete the mission
>>83030238
thats not matt demon thats jason bounre
>>83030238
set the stage for The Martian
>>83030335
Lol
>>83030640
I thought he lied about the suitability of the planet to get them to land there and save him. They would have let him sit in that chamber for much longer otherwise. Why he then decided to murder people is still a mystery.
>>83030238
He's a real Hugh Mann being
>>83030238
He was a coward
>Dr. Mann
Nolan is an unbelievable hack
>>83031530
What should they have named him then, Frank
>>83030238
He appeared to be spaced out
>>83030238
Typical /b/tard.
>>83030688
He wanted to complete the mission if it meant he would survive.
His first priority was getting the fuck out of there alive.
>>83030238
>Reddit spacing
>Facebook punctuation
What did he mean by this?
>>83030289
You cant say this things here.
>>83030238
His name is Mann and he's the leader of the original Gargantua planetary exploration team. He was NASA's best and brightest astronaut. The point of his character is to show that even someone like him is still only human(n), and can have some serious flaws under the surface
>>83031530
>he doesn't believe in Dr. Mann
fuck off human
>>83030375
They were already on location in space, so they filmed a second movie at the same time to offset the costs.
And anyways Dr. Mann was doomed from the start. And he represent those who chase fantasies
>>83032059
Top heh
Why does he try to kill them?
He could have either
>Told the truth and left with them
Or
>Lied and said his data at first appeared correct but then he understood it was incorrect
He will have to lie one way or the other
>>83030688
>>83031645
He wanted to fuck off back to Earth. He'd already chosen the best planet and it turned out to be a bust. He knew that the others wouldn't let him abort the mission after sabotaging it by lying about his planet, so he tried to kill them.
his character was completely unrealistic. If he was such a coward deep down, then why did he even volunteer to go on such a dangerous solo-planetary-exploration mission in the first place? So, the smartest and most capable astronaut / scientist NASA had seriously had zero doubts about the habitability of his chosen planet? How can you volunteer to go on a mission like this and not acknowledge the fact that you might just die for nothing? Because when they found him, he was obviously totally unwilling to accept his own death, or even the chance of it (by not returning to earth).
>>83032680
fuck off matt you've had your space movie too. can't you just leave it at that?
>>83030238
it was a The Martian crossover
>>83032680
>unrealistic
What's with all the spergs on this board that don't understand human behavior at all? Nothing about that is even remotely unrealistic, you're fucking retarded. Go """"""criticize"""""" Prometheus you stupid shit.
>>83032059
His name was A.mann. his character was metaphor that man is bad
>>83032163
>>83032680
He had gone mad from being isolated and living with his failure for so long, being the outgoing overachieving egomaniac leader-type that he was.
He felt like he had to kill them because he felt so embarrassed about lying to them, and he just wanted to destroy all memory of that and return home. He couldn't bear the idea of being exposed as the coward that he really was
>>83030238
What's there to "understand"? IIRC, they verbally tell you everything about that character.
Damon wasn't in the promotional material (though I didn't see much of that before going to the cinema) and they conceal his role until he shows up, so I remember being very surprised when he shows up.
>>83030335
Saturn has the biggest moon in the solar system ,dicktard
>>83030238
Whats there to understand. Dr.Mann was a coward. He admits to lying and being a failure. Which is why he wants everyone dead so he can continue the mission and correct his shortcomings.
>>83032059
I showed this to my wife. Well done.
>>83031530
>Dr. Hugh Mann
Seriously Nolan?
>>83030238
More like out of.....
....
....
SPACE
>>83036415
>Dr. Ben Dover
Seriously Nolan?
He's Interstellar's analogue of Kurtz
>>83037891
>Dr. Pavleer
what did he mean by this?
>>83037478
More like outer space.
>>83030238
isn't that todd from breaking bad?
>>83030604
It's really astounding how many people missed what I thought at the time was the most clunky hamfisted blatantly telegraphed metaphor in recent memory.
Same thing with the plot of gravity being a metaphor for getting over the loss of a child. Turns out most people are too dumb to get even the most blatant metaphors.
>>83038160
I honestly thing keith ledger woulda been good for this role but he died so whatever
>>83030238
>I could have killed all of them if I had my exo-suit and the motherfucking rifle
>>83032680
>his character was completely unrealistic.
Not really, a man could dream to be the perfect leader until failures hit him and his will is shattered. He then could only think about his survival, everything else be damned.
>>83030448
hula hoops
>>83030238
It's just Nolan trying to be deep.
