>you will never go to the video store on a friday night, and pick out a movie and an N64 game for the weekend ever again

why even live
>>
>N64 game

So am I renting Perfect Dark again for the 14th time? N64 kind of sucked brah, there were only a small handful of games I actually liked for it even when I was a young kid.

I still played my SNES more than my N64.
>>
>>83029437
Still hurts. Mine became an urgent care. I had to their when I threw my back out at work. The waiting area was where the video game isle was.

While I do miss the memories of browsing VHS and SNES/N64 boxes, I basically would rent Texas Chainsaw Massacre and The Shining over and over, so I'm not missing much by such stores being gone.

I'll always have the memories.

Millenial is just a fun term to say for kids you hate. I don't think anyone at this point cares what it actually refers to.
>>
>>83034175
Millennial here, born in '89 I experienced video rental stores and a lot of stuff that's associated with being a non-millennials. Millennial just means the last few fully born in the 20th century because the end of... what is it? The 2nd Millennium?

So yeah a lot of earlier millennials got to experience a lot of that shit before we started puttting everything in the internet?

CDs, VHS before DVD killed it. Payphones, pagers and all that shit.

We are the last of Gen Y, Milennials are anyone born from 1991 on.

This is my belief, only a person born after 1991 will argue this point.

You are all a bunch of soft cock pussies!

I feel as though I need to clear some things up about why Blockbuster Video is closing, and why they went chapter 11 in the first place a few years ago

>Blockbuster Video used to be owned by a Jew owned company named Viacom
>Viacom are money-grubbing whores
>Viacom buys all of blockbuster's rentals and merch with loans, instead of profits
>every year use profit to pay off loans, take out new loans to buy new merchandise
>blockbuster decides to split from viacom because they are tyrants
>viacom takes all of blockbuster's profits from that year, but does not pay off the loans
>the loans were taken out under blockbuster's name, not viacom's, so the loans technically belong to blockbuster
>viacom does not tell this to blockbuster corporate
>when blockbuster finds out, there is already a shit ton of interest, and viacom has all of their profits
>desperately try every quarter to pay off loans
>1 mil loan becomes 3 mil then 5 mil, finally tens of millions of dollars are owed
>go chapter 11, file for bankruptcy
>Dish network buys Blockbuster Video, because they want to use the iconic Blockbuster Video logo to sell tv subscriptions, plus wants brick and mortar stores to sell tv subscriptions
>closes unprofitable stores that were still around after chapter 11 closings

This is a long shot but anyone on the west coast remember safeway the grocery store used to have a movie rental section too? Blockbuster was in the next town over for me growing up so we didnt go very much, but safeway was just down the street so i always rented from their selection even though it was small

Yeah you listed a bunch of games that don't exist.

Either way, the list of actual good, playable games for the N64 is about as long as the list you posted.

There was almost nothing good for it. It was just good at the time because you were young and because it was new and the best there was at the time. Nostalgia is holding you back.

Don't ever have kids. I don't think you're fit for raising them without blockbuster

There is no sex nor nudity in Cube... at least the first one. The nude scene in Cube 2 involves rapidly aging old people, so not fapworthy. And there is no nude scene in Cube 3, so idk what you're talking about.

They got rid of late fees in their last few years

You paid like $12 to rent a game and could keep it for fuckin ever I think

I will because it's vastly superior.

Yeah I'm sure some old people also missed the horse and buggy when it came out. They all died and are viewed as backwards now.

Yes, they'd just charge the full retail price to your credit card (as you needed a credit card to get a membership in the last few years) if you didn't return the [whatever] quickly enough.
>>
>>83029437
Blockbuster was too expensive
>>

How is sitting in your house alone starting and stopping a dozen movies until your low attention span millenial brain decides something looks acceptable superior to

-getting your best buds together to walk down to the video store on a warm summer evening with twenty dollars in your pocket

- spending an hour browsing videos and games and picking out some obscure horror film that obviously is super cheesy but knowing you will watch it all anyways

- on the way home walking through the mcdonalds drive thru with your bikes and skateboards and getting cheeseburgers or going to the gas station for slurped

- getting home and popping the video in and chilling with ur bros and actually watching a movie instead of going on your phone half the time and the other half thinking how there's prob something better to watch

Fck you

Fuck you so hard
>>
>>83041536
its really sad how childhoods are entirely built around corporate products in the modern era

It is, but at the same time I'm really looking forward to Gen Z nostalgiapuking all over the internet to finally shut up the 90s kids about how pokemon, harry potter, and whatever other crap shaped their lives
>>
>>83041536
Are you actually trying to school me? I was born in 86 and for a 92 Asshole to try and tell me what's up about my childhood is hilarious

There's is a huge difference between being old enough as a high school student on sep 11 to realize the world is fucked versus your 9 year old barely out of toddler years

And now your disgusting ass is here on this moolian basket pooping roadshow telling me how blockbuster was a shit

Go binge watch riverdale
>>

It's already happening. The dominant culture on 4chan used to be late 80s kids. Then it moved onto early 90s kids. Now you will routinely find people admitting they were born in 97, 98, 99, even the rare 2000.

The only difference in nostalgia posting I've noticed is the cartoons are different and instead of Lisa Frank it's beyblades or some shit.
>>
Anyone defending the modern age of Netflix and steaming landfill streaming crap is at odds with my entire being

There are a handful of good shows and films that came out on the platform exclusively

Otherwise it's a fuckin empire of cut rate movies and shitty shows like riverdale or 13 reasons

I just watched the steaming pile of shit called siege of jadotville

Netflix publishes so much crap

I'll often scroll thru it for a fuckin half hour before turning it off

There's tons of content but most is unwatchable

Anything decent like a good series like narcos you finish in a couple days whereas at least in the olden days you would follow a show for a season, for multiple years!!
>>
>>83041866
As long as I can stop hearing "omg only reeel 90s kids remember pikachu!" I don't really care.

Seriously, it's disgusting how an entire generation's childhood revolves around consumerism.
>>
>>83041866
Do you really think? Do people reminisce over vines? I think nothing will be memorable man, it's all just shit you click thru quickly
>>
>>83041979
>Netflix publishes so much crap
Yes because everything that came out before Netflix existed was a perfect gem and not just your nostalgia filtering out the crap.
>>
>>83041979
>Anything decent like a good series like narcos you finish in a couple days whereas at least in the olden days you would follow a show for a season, for multiple years!!

Hey bucko, if you wanted to you can watch one episode a week and really get back into your childhood. How about you go do that.
>>
>>83042038
No I rented plenty of crap but at least we had the attention span to watch it and at least glean what you could out of it

Now if a show or movie doesn't have the right look or feel you will turn it off in the first two min and pick a new one

There is way more bad content available and being produced now because these shit studios realize they can make some decent money doing Netflix deals versus actually putting out something with some merit
>>
>>83042036
Honestly, I'd rather have people reminisce about user generated content than people having nostalgia attacks over whatever a bunch of old people sitting in board rooms spitballing ideas that would make them the most money.

>>83041359

While I do feel the nostalgia too, there's nothing that beats the convenience of being able to rent a movie from your couch with the click of a button.

While friends and not having adult stuff to worry about must be the main reasons for nostalgia. Video rental store, skateboards, fast food and getting to said places are part of the experience.

I remember that. I thought it was Lucky's or Bel-Air but all the stores probably did it.

this,

it's only because we probably went the most in the 90s.

by 2003ish nobody was going regular and making a night of it.

>tfw no more movie night
>no more picking 1 video and a bag of sweets
>no more sitting and taking the film in because that was your Friday night

I think we've really ruined ourselves. My GF can't watch a film without fucking around on her phone so she misses half the plot. Or she'll get 30 mins in and want to switch.

Fuck
What was that n64 game where you could pick different vehicles or mechs, and play on different planets like mars and jupiter...
It was kind of like Twisted Metal but Sc-fi, and i remember it having a black cartridge.
That game was fun as fuck.

I remember playing Kirby and having a blast after renting it at Hollywood.

Staying up on the weekends all night long playing through the whole co-op of Perfect Dark was maximum comfy.
My sister and I used to fuck around alot on the multiplayer mode with Bots. It was fun playing with all the different AI profiles.

Mom was a Mario fanatic, it was fun watching her play through it like a pro. My parents used to stay up all night playing Mario, they even had a binder full of Magazine clippings and guidebooks for Mario 64. Donkey Kong and Banjo Kazooi was always fun too.
