I think the explanation is a lot simpler than that.

David resurrects one of the "gods" and his immediate waking reaction was to punch David's head off.

So he was able to put the pieces together that these aliens are clearly not gods, and that they are just some douchebags who are making bioweapons to wage war on a planetary scale, so fuck em

Imagine you've lived to see the peak of human technology and innovation, to the point where being the man to finally answer "why are we here" and "who is our creator" once and for all.
Imagine you've made it your life's work to answer this question for yourself and for all of humanity.

Now imagine because you were so desperate, so ambitious to be this man, and to answer this question, that your own creations race ahead of you with your foot in the doorway and sucker punch your creator in the face, then wipe out their entire species before they have a chance to even acknowledge you as their creation.
Your questions remain unanswered forever, you failed humanity in a way no one could ever have done before and will never be able to again, because you single-handedly ruined the one chance of achieving humanity's enlightenment.
And then your creation turns around and gives you this stupid faggot look.

That's the point of the scene--or at least, what it's trying to set up.
