What do you think of Gaspar Noe?
>>82990731
they need to stop letting him cast his films, write his films, and edit his films
otherwise he's cool
'noe'
Love was embarassingly self-indulgent but other than that he's made some pretty good movies.
>>82990760
yeah the main guy in EtV was pretty weak even though he didnt have alot of lines
Brilliant director, awful writer, mediocre pornographer
edgelord faggot
>>82990763
What?
He's a good plebfilter
>>82991202
its because he wasn't even an actor, he's actually just a cinematographer who walked in. the girl and the japanese charachters are the only real actors, his hippy drug dealer friend is also literally just a fan of Noe's who walked into the set for an autograph
I like his aehestetic and that's about it
>>82991641
what does that mean
>>82990763
Noé
>>82992209
oh wow sorry forgot the squiggly line, big panic.... whoever could this 'Noe' character be?????
wish i could sage a post
>>82992427
Lol are you ok?
>>82991175
whatd you think of I Stand Alone?
I like that song he directed the film clip for
>>82993555
Thought it was easily his best - really conveyed that feeling of hitting rock bottom and having nowhere to go but further down, plus Philippe Nahon was great.
imperfect movies that give everyone a bunch of reasons to dislike them and pointing real flaws in them. also is the kind of filmmaker i despise who goes beyond not fearing improvisation and just... improvises almost all the time.
dat said i dig it, liked everything since irreversible and look foward to his stuff every time
>>82991175
i'm ok with gaspar noe being called an "awful terrible artist" but i'd say maybe try looking at Love not as "this thing i created is brilliant" but more like "i'll try to give the actors tools to try to get an aproximation of something interesting and truthful"
since that's the way i think he feels about it, a shitload of it is improvised so he clearly doesn't aim at "perfect" or "brilliant"

Love in Motion is his best work

For a film attempting to convey physical and emotional attraction it felt very superficial, especially since the cast were largely made up of models, and then when you’ve got scenes like Noe in a disguise dryhumping a mchickodel it becomes hard to take seriously. Then again that’s the thing about sex - each individual’s idea about what’s attractive or genuine is very subjective. One man’s arousal is another’s comedy. Even from the opening with the threesome, with the actors slotting up like a human jigsaw puzzle, I found it a bit overly po-faced, but I can see how others could see more in the film.
Enter the Void is fantastic.
Probably the best opening titles in movies.

Unredeemable hack.
>>82997689
totally, it's hard for it to not be superficial when you film a lot of improv and then scrap for some kind lf closure or structure. hate the approach, pretty sure everything BUT the scenes with the protag in his apartment with his shitty family are improvised. they must have filmed everything improvised then made a "real movie" about a guy in his apartment freaking out about his past.
>>82998356
curius now if one can edit a perfectly acceptable indie-filmschool short film with the scenes that aren't flashbacks.
that's the thing, I always end up with a will to mess around with his work (specially editing) but not in a "fixing it" kind of way. his movies are great to play around with in that fashion. hard to do that with tight, greatly molded films so i guess that's kind of a weird positive.

>mfw i watched ETV and Love in the cinema and both times some plebs near me got bored, used their mobiles, and verbally conveyed to me their disinterest with the films, while i enjoyed them fully & lold heartily
Gtfo plebs. It's called modern art.
hack

Both movies are fucking terrible.
His only good movie is Holy Motors but it's really goo-
Wait, he has nothing to do with it?
Fuck, he's just a terrible pretentious French cuck.

There are two types of people. One of those groups doesn't like Dario Argento, Gaspar Noe or contemporary video art.
The other group left /tv/ years ago.

He can't tell a story through the medium for shit. Both Love and EtV are just pointless droning without actual progression. Things just ARE in these movies, nothing really happens and it's the most boring shit. Granted, some of the shots are nice to look at but you can say the same about Michael Bay movies.
Also the way he tries to shock audience into watching his movies is hackfraudery at its worst - LOOK I'M MAKING EDGY FILM IT STARTS WITH RAPE / PEOPLE DO DRUGS AND TRIP / THEY FUCK ON SCREEN. He has no subtle bone in his body and everything he does is extremely shallow.
Love was done better before and it was called Possession.
