People have killed themselves for much less than Hannah did, as well as much more than Hannah did. It's all relative, and I'm not sure why that's such a difficult concept for people to grasp. People kill themselves all the time, and a lot of people experience severe depression for seemingly no reason (let alone being raped). I think the problem people have is they don't buy it. They don't feel like the show realistically portrays suicide or depression. Of course it is the writers fault, rather than Hannahs, but if you don't feel you are watching someone who is suicidal/depressed then the character is not likeable.
