I was a bit surprised that everyone in these threads was lauding FWWM as I thought the general consensus was that it wasn't as good as the series. I saw it a year back and the tone felt jarring after watching and loving the series and its generally more light-hearted atmosphere. I also preferred series Donna.

I just rewatched the film, again off the back of watching the series and my opinion of it couldn't be more different. It's absolutely fantastic and to be honest, blows the vast majority of the series out the water. The tone is perfect, is light-hearted and completely horrifying where it needs to be, elements of the red room/either lodge leak into Laura's reality in a way not seen before in the show and, as people have said before, the ambiguity of Leland/Bob actually works a lot better than I originally thought. Plus I now prefer FWWM Donna.

Only that scene does. In the other scenes in it the characters are in the present. The red room doesn't have time though. It exists both in the past and future. That's why in FWWM Cooper was able to see Laura's death and was in the red room before she died.

Windom Earle was pretty obviously always just supposed to be the season 2 villain and die at the end. He brought Cooper to the lodge, and after that there are much bigger things to deal with so he had no purpose in sticking around. As for those other storylines, Frost was just as gone as Lynch from 11-21, so none of that stuff was him.

That's not very specific though, such as to what extent his contributions are being used. Cowriting is used to mean anything from changing minute things to doing the majority of the work in different contexts. Like look at any top 40 pop song's writing credits.
