Why does Reddit hate his movies?
Can't speak for Reddit but while he's not perfect the guy knows action and he's always inventing some new gadget to capture it.
I can't believe he's not doing Bad Boys 3.

Armagedon is good

SHUT THE FUCK UP BEN
Seriously, Bay didn't write the script, fucking nonce.
>>82912550
he just asked an innocent question and Bay went all autistic on him
13 hours and Pain & Gain are kino
>uses big sets and locations over green screen
>real explosions and practical effects where possible
>knows to dial back on the quips when things get serious
>chad
He's the chemo to the Reddit-marvel cancer

Armageddon is fucking terrible!
I'm about to reconsider the Transformers movies though. There's something there I can kind of inadvertently appreciate. And Pain & Gain is unabashedly good.
One thing really interesting about his style is that his movies aesthetically look exactly like military commercials. I like to think of his work as a spectacular embodiment of the military industrial complex and capital. Like you can sense the sublime scale of neoliberal expansionism in these clashing, self-transforming advertisement-monsters. How is that not kind of incredible?
>>82912150
Yeah, why does /tv/ hate it so much?
>>82912679
The set for the medieval battle in The Last Knight looks insane

You live in a world brimming with stupidity and I hope it never crosses into ours.

Do they that much?
It seems pretty fair to see the stupidity and cynicism in his work, but there's also another level (when we get into /tv/'s idea of "kino") where we start to appreciate things more for the rush and spectacle and aesthetics, and there seems to be a lot to appreciate here on that level. And we generally acknowledge Pain & Gain at the very least.

Transformer's is sublime, spectuclar stupidity though, to the point of being more like deranged, visual, hardcore techno or something.
Armegeddon is just fucking CORNY. Like fireworks and 'gee whiz' kids running by a mural of JFK while waving American flags. Which could be cool and hyperreal in its own way but it's done so badly.

You've literally said nothing of worth, you strung together a bunch of noise.
Kill yourself.

Yeah. I've been getting a really female vibe from the way he words shit.

because he is a liberal
also because armchair critics like RLM hate his movies

Meaningless to you, maybe
I was actually very accurately and specifically describing a certain sensibility that pertains to Transformers. Like this gabber techno sensibility. Which is among my favorite types of sensory experiences.

Maybe it just aint your thing.
Michael Bay is James Cameron if James Cameron were a 14 year old boy.
James Cameron's movies are not smart by any stretch of the imagination but they are well-made, and some of Bay's are too but he goes overboard to often.
I actually saw Age of Extinction in the theater with my little brother when it came out three years ago and I was getting a fucking headache from all the spinning and flipping the robots were doing and the explosions

His movies are fucking terrible, so it makes sense that people would hate them.
His transformer movies are complete trash but his other stuff is kino

'sublime, spectacular stupidity' as in it may seem dumb, but the aesthetic experience is so massive and absurd that there's something interesting interesting in that itself.
'like deranged, visual hardcore techno', as in said experience can be compared to the sensory rush of different types of hardcore techno, which also go into these extreme sensory zones that are all rushes of digital and metallic spectacle.
Learn to reading comprehension, you fucking untermenschen.
>A source tells Deadline that the lawsuit filed in October 2010 would have gone on longer if Michael Bay’s name hadn’t been thrown into the legal mix. But the possibility that the director and his Platinum Dunes production company suddenly were to be pulled in as defendants apparently lit a fire under Paramount to speed a settlement.
