What is your opinion on Ridley Scott? Is he a good filmmaker?

He has been consistently one of the best working directors in Hollywood for 40 years.

God tier visual storyteller but it's entirely up to the script if anything else will suck or be good.

This has been pretty obvious especially recently, he has put out a movie every year for like a decade now, and the quality of the films varies so much. In a sense it is impressive, he's almost 80 years old, and to be able to do huge movies every year is insane.

People need to stop saying this just because he had two films with fantastic production designers.

Much like Cameron I think he was once, probably not anymore. I enjoyed Prometheus for what it was and expect the same out of Covenant but calling either a great film seems absurd.

Every single one of his films has good visual storytelling regardless of production design - Thelma and Louis, Black Rain, Matchstick Men, American Gangster, The Duelists
