I cannot put into words how much I hate the people who take sites like these down. "Faggot" isn't even close. I genuinely hope each and every one of the prosecutors gets divorced tomorrow, loses their main hand while trying to drink away their sorrow, and then gets a pebble in their shoe that won't come out

If they ever manage to actually kill pirate bay the next step will be a fully decentralized searchable system. I think they know that.

Lately I've noticed that even when a good copy of a film comes out, shitty screeners and hard korean subs continue to have more seeds than any other versions. I'm curious if the studios are doing this on purpose so that people who try to pirate end up watching crap and decided to just pay for it.

Not if the prosecutions start getting serious, it's risk vs reward, you think people are really gonna make torrent sites if they know they're gonna get caught and go to jail for 25 years?

A few high profile torrent site owners go to jail for a real fucking long time and Hollywood sends a couple threats to the smaller sites, guarantee that shit's going the way of VHS

Extratorrent is one of the many sites that list public torrents.

A decentralized system won't stop Hollywood from prosecuting these guys, it might just make it take longer. My point still remains the same, Hollywood will eventually crack down and prosecute enough torrentors that people get scared off making torrents.

Like I said, do you really think some nerd in his parents basement is gonna make the next pirate bay when he sees every site get shut down and all the owners get 30 years? Fuck no, that pimply NEET is gonna find another, much safer, way to make money online.

Realistically how much money do you think Hollywood has lost due to torrenting? Tens of billions? They're not going to continue to operate a business with that level of lost revenue forever, as we speak the execs are lobbying international governments for broader powers to prosecute internet criminals and tracking down the owners of sites like Pirate Bay.

There will likely always be small scale torrentors but this scale of torrenting is not going to last forever.

I saw that post because its the one I replied to, decentralization gets rid of the site in favor of software whose creator is harder if not impossible to track once there are thousands of forks.

Hollywood, Bollywood, and Nollywood are all more profitable than ever thanks to all the free marketing provided by torrents and the internet.
>>
>>82885052
Kickass is making a comeback. A new 'official' kickass came online not too long ago and a bunch of people have been going back to it, even more so now that extratorrent got deleted yesterday.

Uploads are still a little slow though so if someone isn't out fast enough you can check 1337x. It's a sketchy as fuck site name i know, but it's actually pretty good, probably the best and sleekest interface out of all torrent sites i've ever used, haven't seen any annoying ads that try to pop up through adblock or anything like that either.

Rarbg works too though i think it looks like shit, decent uploads though.
>>

>>

>next pirate bay when he sees every site get shut down and all the owners get 30 years?

Most countries will not sanction this level of kikery. America might, but in others it'll be business as usual, and will tell the US to fuck off if they try to somehow extradite. It will slow it down though, you're right about that

I'm aware you saw it, I was telling you to read it again.

> whose creator is harder if not impossible to track once there are thousands of forks.

Nothing is impossible to trace, it's gonna come down to risk v reward and effort v reward.

Major torrentors are going to go, because the risk will become too great compared to the reward, and when decentralization comes in it'll be down to the amount of effort Hollywood wants to put in to catching people.

As I said, there'll always be some small scale torrentors but this level we have now is unsustainable. So Hollywood won't mind a small number of people torrenting between themselves, it's not worth the effort to find them. But if someone starts doing it on too large a scale then yes, Hollywood will go through the effort of finding them. Like I said, they're not going to allow billions of dollars to be flushed down the toilet every few years, but they'll be okay with a bit of money being lost to torrenting if it would cost more to find the torrentors than what they're losing fro the torrents themselves.

> are all more profitable than ever thanks to all the free marketing provided by torrents and the internet.

Yes, they're making so much money off people stealing the movies and never paying for it ever, all that free marketing to go and steal more movies is really paying off.

Just because Hollywood is making more money now doesn't mean they're not losing literal billions to torrenting, don't be stupid.

America will and so will most western countries, it'll just take time. New Zealand is planning on extraditing Kim Dotcom to America if they haven't already.

Eventually most commonwealth and european countries along with Murrica will allow fairly broad powers to prosecute online criminals. It'll probably take many years and have the odd bump in the road every now and then for prosecutions but it'll happen.

Russia, China and North Korea will be the holdouts, but with enough time Hollywood lobbying will get there too.
>>
TorrentProject is immortal.
>>
>>82887344
>Hollywood is making more money now doesn't mean they're not losing literal billions to torrenting
The only people torrenting are people who can't afford or don't enjoy the cinema and when they get to watch movies, they use all their extra free time not having jobs or socializing to tell their friends or anyone on the internet who do have money which movies to pay for which is equivalent to billions of dollars in free advertising to Hollywood.
>>
>>82883446
Finally? Where have you been. They've been cracking down for years. TPB lawsuit pretty much spelled the beginning of the end. The public torrent community is a complete shitpile now.
>>
The only way to fight piracy is to just offer better legal services. The amount of people downloading music was reduced by an insane amount after Spotify was released. Now they have almost all songs you could come up with. Now when Steam and GoG have developed many people have stopped downloading games because most games are available there.

Now netflix is a solution for film and tv but there's just not enough shows and films there. They need to start making permanent contracts and grow, because although they have a lot of content they only have like 2-3% of the films I really want to watch (I decide what movie I want to watch first by for example IMDB, then look it up on netflix).
>>
>>82887378

>You get sent a letter if your ISP is jewed.

>>
>>82887222
I have purchased about 20 blurays in the last year, every single one of them movies that I torrented first to decide if they were worth buying.

That is a little under half of the movies I have downloaded (I mostly download tv episodes, which should be freely available anyway). If I don't like it, I don't want to pay for it. If I do like it, I buy in to help pay for more from that creator. If everyone had a philosophy similar to this I don't think studios would care about torrenting as much.

Oh, and I only torrent blu-ray rips. Cams should make the studios mad because they can actually affect ticket sales, but blu-ray rips aren't going to affect the theater value of a film.
>>
>>82887390

> Then why can't they ever seem to find the people who make the actual pirated versions of the movies in favor of going after site owners

If I recall they caught YiFy last year.

As I said, it's effort vs payoff. If Hollywood has decided it's faster/easier/more successful to go after site owners than the piraters themselves then that's why you're seeing the sites get shut down first.

Citation needed.

If they were genuinely making more money due to torrentors recommending movies to friends who then go and pay (Literally retarded logic you're pulling from your ass btw) then why would they be cracking down?

Hollywood tracks these metrics far closer than you do, they are aware how much money they are losing and how much (If any) they are gaining due to people paying later. If they are making money from torrents they would not spend time and money to shut them down.

JAV streaming sites are all filled to the brim with malware.

This. Believe me, I haven't touched torrents in many years and I'll probably not be going back soon.

Id like one.

Not all people and not completely no. Just a large reduction of total downloads. Also the focus on multiplayer has helped with this.

From what set of data are you getting these numbers?

You can look at torrent sites but it's also from me talking to people (both people I know and strangers) about it over time. This is of course not reliable but my main point was still just that the solution is not to try to restrict piracy, just create services that are better. If there was a service that charged you a monthly fee (in your mind a reasonable fee) that gave you unlimited access to all games ever made, don't you think people would use it over torrenting despite the cost? It's exactly what happened with Spotify.

Believe it or not, the majority of people who pirate do so because the product isn't available to them.

Everyone you take down, ten will take its place

I notice I've inadvertently quoted something /tv/ related, but I can't quite remember where that quote comes from.

Pleb. I have over 10 years of downloaded media content that if I were to lose, would be devastating. Just gotta keep backups to be safe.

Look at bitcoins decentralised currency, impossible to trace the user, only the transactions are visible. Similarly a decentralised torrent site will be impossible to shut down.

FIRST THEY CAME FOR THE MEGAUPLOAD,

AND I DIDN’T SPEAK OUT BECAUSE I WAS NOT A MEGAUPLOAD USER,

THEN THEY CAME FOR THE REST OF THE HTTP DOWNLOAD SITES,

AND I DID NOT SPEAK UP BECAUSE I WAS NOT AN HTTP DOWNLOAD USER.

THEN THEY CAME FOR THE FROSTWIRE USERS,

AND I DIDN’T SPEAK OUT BECAUSE I WAS NOT A FROSTWIRE USER.

THEN THEY CAME FOR THE TORRENT USERS,

AND I DIDN’T SPEAK OUT BECAUSE I WAS NOT A TORRENT USER.

THEN THEY CAME FOR THE SILK ROAD,

AND I DIDN'T SPEAK OUT BECAUSE I HAVE NEVER VISITED THAT SITE.

THEN THEY CAME FOR ME,

AND THERE WAS NO ONE LEFT TO SPEAK OUT FOR ME.

Just because it isn't your liberty currently being violated, doesn't mean you're safe. This is how they'll do it, divide and conquer. Just because they're going after the most-accessible sites first, doesn't mean that you're safe. Ever. Unless you speak out.

I'm aware that Imgur.com will stop allowing adult images since 15th of May. I'm taking actions to backup as much data as possible.
