Finally got around to watching this last night, I thought it was incredible. Emily Blunt and Spanish Brad Pitt were amazing, the story and pacing were tight, and i really loved the few scenes we had of the policemans family.
Can we have a Sicario thread? Are there any more Villenueve films that are decent?

Enemy and Arrival are pretty good
>emily blunt will NEVER step on your balls
just die in my sleep already

Score is on point too.
Sicario is kino study material.
>Blunt will never rim me, so sad ('_')
This "Sicario is amazing" meme needs to die.
The script was utter dogshit. It looked great, the actors were admirable, solidly edited, atmospheric score. But the writing... you could tell the writer has amateur at best knowledge on the subject. It was all very hokey and sensationalist, with dialogue that wouldn't be out of place on a Law and Order episode (This is the land of wolves). And then there were the contrivances. That Jon Bernthal scene was such a mess from a writing standpoint. The motherfucker happens to have that specific wrist band linked to the drug money in a previous scene? Fuck off. And all the characters other than the three mains were just wastes. I give this movie a 6/10 based on the atmosphere, performances, and other little things, but this didn't win any awards and rightly so.

Loved it, too. Arrival is pretty good. Prisoners and Enemy are OK. I didn't care for Polechnique and haven't seen Incendies yet.
it's probably one of villeneuve's better movies but the acclaim it gets around here is just weird

I think the land of the wolves line is pretty fitting considering they're always hammering home how dangerous the cartels are and one of the themes is weak vs strong. i guess its my opinion but it fits fine even if its a little dramatic.
And the Shane scene does work because he works with the drug dealer who uses the bands, the flipflop guy knew who he was and set him up with emily blunt to use her as bait. They talk about it in the next scene, silly

So why did he have the wrist band in that scene at that moment?
>>82865026
He took the shit out of his pockets to make out with Blunt and he probably had it on him from earlier that day when he was collecting money or whatever. Seems fairly self explanatory, why do you think its bullshit?

literally this
well done

So the writing is bad because you find one line hockey and one tiny plot point not plausible?
Also it got 3 Oscar nominations if you care about that shit
