other than that genuinely good german movies are far and few between.
Other then the stuff everybody knows, i can only wholeheartly recommend:

Das weiße Rauschen
- probably the best portrayal of auditory hallucination, or so a guy who actually suffered from it told me
- just all around a very decently made movie

Die fetten Jahre sind vorbei
- a bunch of jaded middle class kids play revolution and slip into actually abducting an evil capitalist fatcat and shit gets suddenly real

The only thing you're gonna get is german dubs of films.
Germans are really into dubbing things.

Deutschland 83 is a short series about a DDR spy.
In drei Tagen bist du tot, an Austrian teen slasher, actually good.

MA 2412, Austrian series about civil servants. This is fantastic, but it's weird Austrian humour.

In general I hate german films, but these were great:

Freischwimmer (Head Under Water, 2007)
A teacher and a student plan to murder their class.

Muxmäuschenstill (Quiet as a Mouse, 2004)
A guy documents his life being a vigilante.

Das Millionenspiel (The Game of Millions, 1970)
TV movie, similar in concept to the running man, but more realistic and low budget.

One of my favorite movie is Sonnenallee

Lautlos - pretty decent Thriller imo, might be biased because i like the actors of pro/antagonist

Ein Freund von mir - A nice drama about a officehead building a friendship with some carpool clerk

Toni Erdmann - deserves all the praise it got, it's a 3h ride though

Lammbock - if you're into stoner comedy and dark humor

Goldene Zeiten - From the director of Bang Boom Bang

The austrian comedymovies by Josef Hader are great too, especially Die Aufschneider, though your german should be pretty good to understand all the subtext

Also if you're able to understand bavarian I heavily recommend "Fast wia im richtigen Leben" by Gerhard Polt, comedysketches hitting too close to home, you can find a lot of them on this youtubechannel:
