It's Malick, of course it's good
Goddamn it Malick. Why can't you make something like Badlands and Days of Heaven?
>>82857563
Why? Sounds less kino-ish
>It will tell the story of Franz Jägerstätter, an Austrian farmer who refused to take on combat duties after being conscripted into the Wehrmacht in 1943. He was immediately arrested and executed by guillotine later in the same year at the age of 36
probably my favorite cinematography

I really loved it. That cinematography is just exactly for me.
I thought the movie was about an alien who came to earth but decided to became a hollywood star and then kill himself because of the abortion of that girl
Is To The Wonder as good?

On the contrary, it's a theme with a lot of spiritual and philosophical implications, which is a perfect fit for Terry. These last four films have all been self-indulgent semi-autobiographies, even though he reached for what is universal in his feelings, I still think they suffer a bit from the narcissism, 4 autobiographical movies in less than a decade, all following the same formula, tone and aesthetics in a row is overkill. At this point, working with Lubezki again cannot bring anything new to his work. There was this great quality to his work before ToL with how he used important, troubled period settings (depression, new world) and worked within genre conventions (war, criminals on the run), which made his films more classical by giving him grander themes and visual spectacle and he lost that when he moved to mundane, modern day relationship stuff. The Austrian farmer stuff is based on letters he left to his wife and ethical discussions he had with his priest, so it'll still deal with his regular themes of evil/sin corrupting what's good/virtuous, struggling with love and faith, and of course lots of farming/nature shots... Considering his ties to Heidegger, him dealing with the existential implications of being in Nazi Germany interests me. I assume it'll be a bit more literary and austere with less camera twirling around constantly but he'll still find ways to make it visually unique and engaging. I believe it'll also be shot completely in German. It's something new for him and he'll have to challenge himself and take his style in a new direction
