As a centrist that's left leaning I used to think this shouldn't be allowed. I very openly went against every liberal I know (I live in a blue state) that was in favor of this type of financial attack on those that they disagreed with (such as the CEO of chick-fil-a gay marriage thing.). The way presidents are selected is by the electoral college which are told how to vote by their states, the states elect the president not the people. Every state lets the people vote for their representatives in the electoral college to vote for the candidate they want, its how that indian got a vote in Washington since the EC members can vote however they want they just might get fined based on the state. Popular vote is just tallying up all the states at the end and adding it together, only thing that matters is each states popular vote and how districts went based on the state.
