What is /tv/ opinion regarding this movie?
It frankly surprised me, being as cheesy as it is, had some genuinely good moments and a great OST. Schwarzenegger performance is lacking at some points but I found the overall film a very nice experience.

>cheesy
You don't have to say this just to try and fit in, it's a genuinely incredible film whose only faults are maybe some divergences from the original Howard character, but even those aren't necessarily so bad in this, he has thoughtful, human moments that stray from the prevailing dumb barbarian trope that post-Howard Conan writers were responsible for.

it's one of the purest Fantasy films, when i watch it i feel like i'm playing an rpg, and the low amount of dialogue really fits suprisingly.

It's a masterpiece, one of my favorite films.

I would say that it has some cheesy moments, mainly during it's first part (Conan falling into a cave to find the sword, accompanied by comedic grunting; him getting wasted with his friend and doing drunken sheaningans). I don't consider it a bad part in any way, some slightly humorous and not-so-serious sequences make for a greater impact during the other half of the movie.
Best fantasy movie ever made. Every set has so much detail and most of the story is told visually.

Well, those are just Arnold sounds, you can't really help those, I look past them. The sequence in the cave finding the sword is a genuinely fantastic scene, I think. You're definitely right in talking about more light-hearted scenes with him and Subotai adventuring or talking or Conan just being slightly baffled by civilization are all great character moments. Embrace them! I will say, if anything, maybe some lines here and there could be a better, but everything else is just so good I don't care. It's a movie I could watch every day for a year.
It is a great movie. A real treausre.

Has a GOAT soundtrack, pure fantasy visuals, strong principles and is a film fully comfortable in its own skin.
It's great.
80s fantasy is kino and I fear the genre will never be fully realised on screen as well again

a perfect film. wouldn't change a thing about it.
it is the real deal
Not cheesy at all. The greatest sword & sandal movie ever made. Arnold's best work.
It has the best OST of all time

I rather liked Robert Jordan's Conan, but non-Howard Conan is generally to be avoided.
