There was a lot of killing in GOTG 2 for a superhero movie. People were dying left and right, both in the mutiny scenes and when Ego's spore things started taking over

this webm is so funny without audio, yondu looks like hes just pacing around grinning like a dumbfuck i love it
>>
>>82767109
It's enjoyable and it doesn't pretend to be something it's not. Honestly it was quite charming as a movie. Better than the first film. Some of the humor was cringe and tried too hard, but some of it was genuinely quite funny. Also there were a lot of good emotional scenes throughout the quips. Gunn is really pretty good with crafting emotional scenes, even if it's with characters you've never seen before.

Enjoyable movie. Not perfect but if anyone wants to start crying reddit or the other usual bullshit they should get off this board and kill themselves. Not necessarily in that order.
>>
>>82762532
Yondu was killing mutineers and about the only crumb of comfort in Rocket's miserable life is hurting people because of all the trauma he's been through. He's not right in the head. It's a "He's a psycho, but he's OUR psycho" deal. Plus, to be fair, he was killing mutineers too, he's just enjoying it a bit much.

James Gunn saved the MCU from the Russos and Feige.
>>
>>82768986
He was grooming children. He needs them alive. It makes sense to give her a slow-acting disease so she could raise the child up to a certain point and then die soon after. He was falling in love and refused to see her again or even Earth, so he sent slavers to grab the child. Then he could check if it was a good battery or toss it in the pile of bones. It's a stupid plot but I've seen worse.
>>
>>82768986
If we take everything he said as truth, he did actually love her and thus didn't want to have to watch her die in person or visit the planet she was from ever again. Since she would just die anyways once his plan came to fruition he probably decided it was better to remove her earlier, presumably because her still being alive when Peter was taken in by Yondu would have likely caused pretty big problems.
>>
>>82769699
This is comedy done right. It sets up jokes in advance. A bad comedy would have Drax say "I have sensitive nipple aaargh!" while putting on a jetpack and nobody would found it clever or funny. This movie set up the joke one hour in advance.

Having seen -2 four times, and -1 more than that, I have to say that I like -2 better. The villain is much better and there's more character time instead of introductions.
>>
I just got back from the theater and I thought the movie was too grandiose in scale, had too many action sequences and had too much yelling. Everything outside of that was good, but the good parts were unfortunately few and far between. Film studios need to stop making every sequel bigger and louder than the last. GOTG Vol. 2 should have had tighter focus and human-scale proportions.
>>
>>82769422
oh come on, the set up to that joke was fine. He hints at it well before it happens, and the delivery was okay.
>>
>>82770398

I think the only bad thing was that it was right at the edge of being too much. Too many characters, too many set pieces, too many call backs, too many jokes/quips, etc. There was more character development this time around and a bit of a stronger motif about family. But it was almost trying a bit too hard with everything else.

They actually did it. They actually fucking made a movie about Reddit. No dog whistles, no allusions, just pure straight Reddit pleb shit. Every fucking line is a meme. EVERY SINGLE ONE. There isn't one joke or quote in this movie that wouldn't get you at least 50 upvotes. If you were a Bernie Sanders supporter, this flick is for you. If you own a fedora this flick is for you. If you like taking turns with your girlfriend getting rammed in the ass by imported black cock this flick is for you. If you're a normal fucking person who votes Republican and enjoys films about ideas, characters, and interesting settings this piece of shit flick is not for you and given the fact that there are no movies like that anymore because critics and audiences can't get enough meme superhero space shit you're better off just finding another hobby or killing yourself.

Anyone else notice that Ego is just a copy of the bad guy in Slither? They say just about the same damn line about "nothing will be left but me."
>>
>>82770565
I'd agree but I found it to be very formulaic, the instant you met Ego you knew exactly what was going to happen, including the moustache twirl of tumor mom, the Yondu moments and overall most of the jokes were very telegraphed bordering on quipy Marvel bullshit.

I absolutely agree that Kurt is great and I think he carrys the movie, there is some good development for a few of the characters as well, but it didn't surprise me in the slightest. This is all personal opinion though, GotG1 really surprised me, pleasant in every way. GotG2 felt like more of the same, but with some very MCU moments thrown in.

That doesn't necessarily mean that the Republicans got the popular vote though, just enough to secure those states

not that it matters much anyway, on pure vote count it as a close race anyway, because most people don't really like Clinton or Trump they're two very unpopular people who somehow ended up in a presidential race

What's worse, he reveals they were standing in an escape pod the entire time they were killing the crew, meaning they could have just escaped in the pod/command module of the ship the entire time. What a hero.

Nope. Zod was trying to push Superman into killing him and he knew the best way to do that was dead-center of a populated area. If Superman tried to bait him into chasing him somewhere else, Zod would have just super-speed murder-spreed until Clark came back to stop him.

This meme needs to die, you can watch the first part of the final fight and listen to zod saying he will kill every human because superman destroyed the future of krypton. Meaning if even superman fled to space or north-pole zod would just stay and kill everyone since thats his main goal anyway.

Also superman trashing the city? zod is the one punching him trough buildings https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-_rpFGiX_gU

The only thing superman destroys is when he drags zod alongside the windows of a building and when they meet to punch each other in the air once making 2 floor walls fall off.

This. Fans weren't upset because of the casualties or because Superman kills Zod. They were upset because it was destruction porn overload with no effort shown on Superman's part to mend the situation by saving a pedestrian or trying to move the fight somewhere else.
It was just whack whack, punch punch, explosion, destruction, showdown, neck snap, or at least presented in a way that felt like that.
BvS is an even shittier movie with many of the same problems, but that on the ground scene where Bruce saves the girl from Superman and Zod's punch-up, that was more of a Superman moment than the entirety of MoS.

If you did he'd probably attack you since he can't stand to be touched due to years of abuse. If you held on and let him bite you or whatnot he'd probably break down crying. He really needs a good cathartic cry to start to get past his hellish emotional problems.

It makes sense in context. Quill says earlier in the movie he's going to make 800 foot statues of Skeletor, Heather Locklear and Pac-Man. "I'm gonna make some weird shit."

>just trying to entertain the audience

Whoa, heaven forbid that one should ever be entertained...

In your view to be kino is to be utterly bored. I see...

mutineers deserve death and so do you if you don't understand that

Superman is generally fighting crime and killing criminals wantonly would make him less of a hero and more of a vigilante.

Captain America is a soldier in military operations, and the people he's killing on purpose are other soldiers/terrorists. To think that a soldier never kills anyone is ludicrous.

It's what he needs though

Apparently the US audience is a fickle bunch, so marketers will use the rest of the world as a testbed for products and ideas, then if successful, try it on the American public.

without context I can see why you fags would bitch, but this joke was set up, not some random dank "WE KNOW VIDYA GAEMS!" moment.

I think they were all going to die anyways since Yondu sabotaged the reactor. Killing them on the way to the escape pod and holding them off in preparing to escape is justified if they're trying to kill you.

IIRC, Jesus is New Testament and didn't wipe out Humanity.

But Yondu had a change of heart when he caught a glimmer of what Ego was doing to his children, thus becoming a good guy. The mutinied Ravagers might be "right" according to their code, but they did space any of their fellow comrades that opposed them, which could be said might not be an ethical change for them, hence still bad guys.

That's pretty much it. Rocket's tough exterior covers up a minefield of emotional problems. He's like an abused kid never shown a shred of love and he pushes everyone away because everyone he's ever known has hurt him when he let them get close. Groot dying only made it worse because suddenly the one friend he had in the world needed his support more than ever and couldn't protect him in return. It's no wonder he's an asshole for most of the second movie.

Gotta give it up to rooker for being awesome. Had to hold back a tear when he was bearing his soul to rocket and the whole funeral. Also, everyone calling rocket something besides a raccoon was funny.
