Yes its definitely kino. All the "weird part of youtube!!" and "omg this animation is sooooooooo bad" don't realize that he's unironically one of the greatest modern pianists, and is a tenured professor at NYU. He does perfect finger/hand animations of his songs being played on piano/organ when the characters are doing it, and is writing operas by scratch.
