Well Alien 3 was more about everything being hellish and disgusting, the xenomorph is more like a traditional monster in that. Then again it does have the whole freaky parent/child relationship between Ripley and the Alien which is creepy. Alien: Resurrection did that too but much less subtley.

Haven't seen Covenant.
