The main reason people compared them to Chappelle was because of the way the show was presented on Comedy Central for the first season or two. They did these cheesy "live audience" bits to introduce each sketch, just like Chappelle's Show. It was the weakest part of the show (they'd pretty much just repeat jokes from the sketch) and they got rid of it pretty quickly.

The sketches themselves were always pretty original, it was just the way they did the half-hour show. Nobody even remembers that now, since you can just watch all the sketches individually on YouTube

i was actually really surprised, not by them showing up but by how well they fit in. when i first saw them my immediate thought was "theyre going to stand out like a sore thumb"

but their roles and their acting were phenomenal and were perfect for the characters the show need in those episodes. that plus Get Out made me really appreciate key and peele as more than just funny guys
