Honestly though, it's actually not as great as people now make it out to be. Sure, it's interesting seeing the events that led to Laura's death, and Sheryl Lee does a great job in the role, but it's all so pointless. The film shows us nothing we hadn't already learned from the series. It's an hour and a half of the same stuff, but somehow presented in a far less interesting way than what the show managed to do. The soap opera overacting, the high number of fucking retarded characters, utter disregard for protocol, the duality of 'nice ideal place, but everyone is secretly fucking everyone else and backstabbing each other'.

Trying to weave a standard crime mystery into magic land where no one even gives a shit they just jumped from 'real' to magic is strange. Like does it even fucking matter at this point if Bob is 'caught' he's a fucking possession based entity. I also don't care for most characters, just not invested in them. First season of the TV show is great, quite faithful. Subsequent seasons get further and further away from the books, some events don't happen, backstory not told, characters written out earlier, squashed into one or not there at all.
