I watched it and I'm a man.

It's the best capecrap (sorry, I don't swear) film, but that's not really saying much.

The truth about Snyder is this: He is a good director when he adapt acclaimed graphic novels because the graphic novels are indeed good. When he tries to be creative, usually his vision of what is cool and deep is shit.

I agree but there is "The Ultimate Cut" version which is like 3 hours and 45 minutes long which comes pretty close to the book and is quite good. I watched the theatrical cut after and didn't like it at all. I can see why bookfags didn't like this movie if the yonly saw that version.

>lacks commentary
>lacks the satire of the graphic novel
>most of the best visual moments are just redone versions of the comic panels
>the soundtrack makes no sense, especially for Comedian's funeral, because "The Sound of Silence" isn't a sad song
>the acting is good, but the interpretations of characters like Dr. Manhattan are misinformed
>the film seems to have a violence fetish and is overly violent for no real reason
>the opening scene spoils some of the movie
>a lot of the cgi looks bad now
>the lack of satire makes the movie depressing as fuck instead of optimistic

It's clear Snyder doesn't understand Watchmen. The graphic novel is actually deconstructionist, yet, optimistic. The movie is just hollow and bleak.

The comic is a satirical deconstruction of the entire capeshit genre, the adaption is a stylish Snydervision™ flick, even though it's enjoyable it misses the point

Since I haven't read the comic book yet I can't judge it myself but I think Snyder made that point in his movie. Of course it has his only possible style of making movies which is grim dark but it shows that none of these "heros" really is that great and that most of them despise humanity and they have their own major fucked up flaws.
